Gonna have to agree with just about everyone else here that the Hat stinks. I happened to be at the Studios when the thing was being put in, and for the life of me, I couldn't figure out then what they were doing. It didn't make sense to me that they were putting something in front of the Theater. Then later, when I found out what t was, I thought it was a joke at first. Unfortunately, I was wrong. :x

I would have to agree with some of the previous post. The arm on SSE has to go!!!! I like the hat it just needs to be moved. Move it to the entrance of The Magic of Disney Animation.

or just get rid of that thing on SSE entirely! I can see why they put it up there for the whole millenium thing.. but come on...It's 2006! Hehehe, it's similar to leaving your Christmas tree up till june! It's way past due... It needs to GO AWAY!

I am not a fan of the hat but I can't see it moving. Think there was a thought that they would be losing the great movie ride because of the mgm issues but obviously didn't happen at that time.

Proper shape... decent aerodynamics... little bit of propulsion and I think we can send that darn thing into orbit!

I think the hat is staying put, but wouldn't it be cool to house the hat over the parking lot booths at MGM and drive under it? As for the EPCOT wand, I wouldn't mind seeing it go as well.

Or at least move it just in front of the entrance, You know where the buses pick-up and drop off.

If onlyI could overtake the wand to make the Hat vanish! Next would be the Epcot "graveyard" shortly followed by my combined debt and Stitches Great Escape. :mickey:

That would be a great idea! The least they could do was make it a RIDE entrance... and not just a gift shop.

All that construction for a PIN CART?!? I used to LOVE Sorcery in the Sky fireworks too-- the Chinese Theatre was so classy and such a great focal point and ooooohhh factor when you first walked into the parks. Now it is all but a forgotten attraction.

Was it put up for the Millennium or for Walt's 100th birthday? I'm getting my marketing hype mixed up. Anyway, it does irritate me that Disney has this habit of "celebrating" special occasions by messing up something that was just fine before. Like the graveyard and wand at SSE, and the hat, and the year they turned the castle into a horrible pink birthday cake...

They initially put it up for the 100 Years of Magic (Walt's birthday). Not sure if they're still there, but they had interactive kiosk things that had little factoids, pictures, and video clips of Walt from birth building up to his planning of WDW.

They don't have them anymore. Right underneath the hat is a gift shop.

So I'm wondering. Let's say the hat gets moved, or dragged out to the middle of no where, shot, set on fire, run over etc... you get the point.. what would you all like to see become the new symbol for MGM? Should the water tower return as the symbol, or something else?
