I've eaten at Biergarten a couple of times and they have both been great experiences. The people we were seated with were very firnedly, and it was nice to get the chance to meet someone new on vacation. I know it might seem a little intimidating, eating with a total stranger, but it's really a lot of fun. :D

A great way to avoid people but still get to people-watch is to get a Bratwurst & a Lowenbrau at the Sommerfest and sit outside at one of the little metal tables. It's fun to watch the German Cast Members chit chat with each other in German, listen to the clock, and watch the people lining up for beer! :D Who needs a gluttonous buffet anyways? Gross!
...And it rained, and rained, and rained. The Deluge...

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way, but like another poster suggested, just ask your host or hostess not to seat you with another group and I'm sure in true cast member fashion they will accomodate you. :-)

I must say that sitting with people you don't know is one of my favorite parts of dining at the Biergarten. I've been on three or four different occasions and have had the pleasure of sitting with a lot of friendly people. In fact, the latest time was the best. I went with three other friends and we sat with a family of three. We got to talking with them and they learned that we four were either current or recent interns/cast members with Disney. You know what the other family ended up doing? They paid our bill. We were all so shocked and started thanking them profusely and the gentleman said, "You've all been in the service industry...just do the same for someone else someday!"

Our waitress said that in so many years of working there, she had only seen that happen twice. I'm still floored just remembering it. Ich liebe die Biergarten!

When we were there in January this year, we were seated with a guy who, drunk as he was, claimed to be the guitar player for KC and the Sunshine Band. He also knew the server quite well and had apparently been to the Biergarten MANY times. Judging by his pin collection, he was a huge Disney fan too.

I don't recall his name, but I thought that was kind of cool. You never know who you are going to meet.
