Walt Disney World - EPCOT - futureworld - journey into imagination - magic journeys - full show

Now, this show sounds vaguely familiar... I don't know how long it ran or when it debuted/ended, but it sounds downright freaking CREEPY... I don't know if it sounds familiar because I've heard it on here, or because I saw the show as a kid and it gave me night terrors!

Please, someone who saw the show, tell me it wasn't nearly as creepy/psychadelic as it sounds... that singing is almost chanting...
It's on now, and I totally agree that as Spaulo said, it's "freaking creepy"!!! I've heard it on here before, but never had the time to look to see what it was. This time I saw it coming up, and paid attention.

I don't know that I ever saw the show, because the first one I remember is Captain EO (freaking creepy for a whole other reason, now).

I just heard magic journeys - full show too, can't say I was a fan of it, I switched to a different stream :D kinda nice to be able to do that when I don't like what is coming up in the request queue. I find my self flipflopping between the streams, its my new office weight loss program ..hee hee

I agree. It's great to be able to do that when you don't like what's on the request stream.

Well, I suppose I'll be the dissenter here and say that I loved this show and never liked EO. The 3D was really good (curiously, whatever process they used before CGI was much more effective to my eyes) and I thought it showcased the technology more effectively than the newer movies.

Also it was very creepy, which was part of what was so great about it. It was completely unique and didn't remind you about any other outside entertainment. For an imagination-themed attraction, the newer stuff seems to be woefully lacking in originality.

I also love the music, which has some truly bizarre lyrics:
You are riding on the winds,
where the universe begins,
through the atoms that we pose,
in the heartbeat of a rose.
I really dislike all the mass-market tie-ins present in most new attractions... I suppose this was sponsored by Kodak, but while the pre-show had an annoying song ("Makin' Memories"), it at least had lots of interesting and amusing pictures. MJ itself didn't remind you about Kodak at all, except for the logo which was shown once, I think.

I'm also usually the first to point out that Disney entertainment has not always been what people associate it with now (bland, lowest common denominator, happy feel-good, mass appeal stuff). Starting from Snow White, that witch is truly spooky and there are all sorts of other examples over the years. (20,000 Leagues and Ichabod/Toad come to mind.)

Another thing about MJ that was cool is that it didn't use the tired premise that is in virtually every new attraction of "oh no, something has gone terribly wrong", which is only interesting and surprising once. It was simply a strange adventure.

I really liked its moodiness.

I love Magic Journeys. I request it sometimes

How could you not like that lovely song? It has such a flowing melody. It's pretty :)

Shame on you for not giving it a chance

That was certainly one of their stranger shows - I too am in the camp of "saw it when I was young and it terrified me". For me it is the "it didn't make sense on the big screen and really doesn't make sense on the radio" syndrome.

Never saw EO but it would be cool if it came back for a time, HISTA has played for so long now that mixing in the occational showing of EO would be interesting.

It's not that I didn't give it a chance, I listen to the song and it reminds me of the many times I saw the show as a kid. And maybe it's just as a kid seeing the world through the eyes of a child through an adult looks creepy.

the movie was very creepy, espcially that they had a clown that spoke and it was really scary. when they got rid of it to ad EO i was happy, but then i was equally upset when they moved it into the old theater in fantasyland where mickey mouse review used to be. oh well, things have got to change eventually.
