Stars during College Program

Post by smikeyb » Aug Tue 01, 2006 9:55 pm

When I worke on the COllege Program, one of my roomates and I used to go to MGM on our days off to see the stars taht would ride in the motorcade. I was happy to get my picture with Regis (and then) Kathylee, Pat Sajack and Vanna White when they did their show down there, Cindy Williams from Lavern and Shirley, the cast of inside Herman's head (one of them being the voice of Lisa Simpson), Nell Carter (obviously before she passed away). I also had the mom from Wonder Years and Harry Anderson from Night Court come through our shop. I even have Harry Andersons home address and phone number because he did a package pick-up. Never bother him, just thought it was a neat souviner. My roommate and I knew where the stars came out after they did their shows at MGM so we camped out and waited to get autographs etc. I know they weren't big stars, but it was fun none the less.

Not at the parks but while working for Alaska Airlines at the Palm Springs, Calif airport I saw stars. Lilly Tomlin came up to me to ask me for some help, she was so nice, I love her! And I was walking beside "Hercules" Kevin Sorbo, man whatahunk! He is much taller in person, we just happened to be going to the gate (where the flights leave) at the same time, he smiled and said Hello, I said hello back, and I was very smitten I must say!! There are many stars that fly in and out of that airport, but those were the only ones I came in actual contact with.

A few weekends ago we were taking the ferry back to Connecticut from Long Island and James Woods was on there with a "very young" blonde!

My favorite was when Mike Shanahan, coach for the Bronco's came up to ask me when the United Airlines gal would be in lost luggage cause he has clubs locked up in their bin and had a tee time, I told him I would call United's counter and ask. To top it off the guy waiting with him was John Elway, I felt so stupid cause I kept thinking man these guys looks so familiar I wonder where I have seen them before.....DUHHHHHH. Then after the United gal came down to release their clubs, she said do you know who that was??? I was like, they look familiar...THEN I was like OMG that was Shanahan an Elway!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got Barry Sanders autograph when I checked him in for a flight in Oklahoma City when I worked for the now gone TWA. We had followed his career from Oklahoma State University "Cowboy's Football" where we were doners to the program. He was still such a nice and geniune person. He was on his way back to Detriot from visiting his grandma in Oklahoma.

Guess the next time I am at one of the parks, I will look for the CM with plaid vests :D

Ok, I have bored you all enough with my name dropping.....ha ha ha

I was there in June and ran into Herman Hermits....I have heard of him before just didn't know what the guy looked like. He was a rush and didn't talk much other than "Hey how are you?" But still haha. Oh andI rode the Tower of Terror with Vijay Sing...I know I just murdered the poor guys name. The Pro Golf Player. I bought hte photo just cause he was in it. :)

One time at the Hoop-Dee-Doo sitting at the next table over as Kevin Costner and his family along with John Ritter's wife and kids, this was 15 years ago and no body made a big deal over it.

I saw Charles Barkley and Grant Hill one year at the Beach club, they were there for a golf tournament. I still have the picture of me and Sir Charles, in his Sun's Jersey.

We also saw Eric Estrada at Universal Studios and one of the guys I was with (cared nothing for his privacy and yelled "PONCH") LOL, Eric was so scared he was like "I am with my family....

He got his picture and left him alone after that, but I am sure this 6'5" guy yelling his name from a show 20 years old scared him a bit :)

I wish I had WDW responses, but I dont get there as much.
Did'nt it say stars?? Anybody see Gary Coleman??

we didn't see them, but when we were there in December, they were filming the Christmas parade. so Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, Emmet Smith, and a bunch of other people were in WDW at the time...

I saw John Stamos back when Full House was still on the air! I ran up to him and said "Uncle Jesse?!" cause i was only like 7 at the time. He shook my hand. I bragged about it in school the next year! Rebecca was there too...but I didn't know who she was.

When I was working in MGM one afternoon, they filmed an ad for the ESPN weekend about 10 feet behind me (if the camera panned to the left very slightly, I'd probably have been in it). They had some (I guess they were) guests, Donald, Goofy and someone who I was told was David Robinson. I had no clue who he was (not following American sports..), so I had to research who he was when I got home that evening. It was This guy.

Quite funny really. Quite a lot of people trying to lean over the crowd control ropes they put up around my cart and the area trying to take photos or see him.. I was closer than pretty much all of them, and didn't have a clue what the fuss was about since I didn't know who he was. Plus, Cast Members aren't allowed to make a fuss of celebrities in the parks.. And I was supposed to be working at the time.. :mickey:

We got on an elevator with David Cassidy at the Yacht and Beach Club about 10 years ago. Of course, being young at the time, I had no clue who he was but my mom sure recognized him. It turned out he was performing at MGM that day.

I was working at Buzz when the male star of the movie "Dance With Me" and his family were escorted onto the ride. Actually, they rode through two or three times because his kids liked it so much. I had no idea who he was, and someone had to tell me.

Totally. I don't follow sports either, but I did recognize some of the names. CMs were gathering from different areas just to see them interviewed near the Big Hat. I admit I was starstruck, but luckily my assigned area for that day was sorta where the interviews were taking place.

I think it was in 2000 (the year RnR opened) we were at MGM and a mob was coming down the street coming away from RnR and ToT and we noticed it was Michael Jackson.
