Non-park WDW activities

Post by iloverags2 » Jun Sat 17, 2006 5:19 pm

What's your favorite non-park activity at Walt Disney World? Even though Wilderness Lodge is our favorite resort (basically where we always stay now), I still love the days of hanging out in the hammocks on the beach of Caribbean Beach Resort. What other activities should we look for on non-park days?

I love the water mice and shopping at DTD. I also like to just take some time to visit various resorts around the property, just riding the buses and the monorail from place to place.

Great advice actually - resort hopping is a ton of fun, ESPECIALLY at Christmas when everything is decked out. 8)

I always wanted to try them but I want to do it with friends and none of them want to spend the money. They always looked so cool, and if I was going to take one out Bay lake would be the place it is gi-normous.

The great thing about the water mice on Bay Lake is the amount of room you have. We rented ours at the Poly, and we were able to go all the way over past WL, and the old River Country. We made several laps around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon in the time we had. That's a lot of water to cover.

Pleasure Island is pretty cool. I haven't been in years but the last time I went I had a killer time. There was so many different clubs to check out each with such different appeal it was had to decide what to do next. There was comedy, dancing, live music, and I remember there was a place where it was New Year's every night at midnight.

Well. if you ever DO try them.... make sure to rent the ones at the places around the Magic Kingdom (WDW) and not the one's near downtown disney. Since Bay Lake is SOOO big, and has less water traffic, the ones on the lake go FASTER than the ones at DTD. My hubby found this out (so my shopping excursion was cut short.... ugh.) Just an FYI. And actually, they ARE worth the $!

SOOOOOOO FUN!

Has anyone ever done the parasailing at WDW? I've done it down in the Gulf of Mexico, but I've seen people doing it behind the Contemporary. I'm not sure of the cost, but I bet the views are great.

If gators are a legitimate possibility, then I'll just stick to my normal WDW activities. :) I guess if snakes are on property, then gators are welcome too.

Resort hopping is fun, especially if combined with dining, like going to AKL and Boma. We like taking the Sassagoula boat up the river to DD, too.
