Maybe this is an attempt to do away with tickets. Say you buy a ticket, then scan your finger to get in. Then you lose that ticket. Now you only need your finger to get back in. Of course that would suck if you were a carpenter and you lost the finger that had your Disney Ticket on it. But maybe they could look up your digital information and let you in still.
Biometrics are awesome. I can't wait till they improve them. I know some banks are doing away with ATM cards, and you just need a fingerprint and a pin number to access. Wouldn't that be awesome. You put a fingerprint on file, then purchase tickets online. Then when you get to Disney, you wouldn't even need a ticket. The machine would just recognize you.

Think they are a few years away from that working.
BTW my wife and I switched AP's and the machine didn't blink an eye, so its not foolproof. Here is a pic of the sign

I was there last week and used my right hand only. One problem I had on my first day though was my ticket (which I had purchased a few months in advance) had become demagnatized. The CM said it was probably my cell phone or digital camera being near the ticket that did it. ??? I had my friend's ticket in the same spot in my purse and hers did not have a problem. I had to get a new ticket issued. Later in the trip my room key/card had the same problem. Maybe it's my magnetic personality?

We've been doing this for years with APs - it's really not that big of a deal and we've not been in too many backups behing guests who didn't "get it".
