My favorite is Poly. I think it is the most immersive (although, I'll admit I've yet to visit AKL) resort that I've visited down in WDW. All of the others I've visited, including WL, still feel like you're in a hotel but I don't really feel that way at the Poly. It definitely feels like you're actually in some tropical paradise at the Poly and not just a hotel themed to feel like being in a tropical paradise. Plus, unlike most of the other choices, except for the GF and Contemporary of course, the Poly has monorail service!

You will love it. Bring your bathing suit. Don't forget to have a snack at Beaches 'N Cream. After hours snack cravings can be satisfied with a short walk to Tubby's Cafeteria at the Dolphin.paulywdw wrote:I have never stayed at a deluxe resort. i have been to the allstars 4 or 5 times. No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
You absoultely are going to be spoiled for life. While my fav resort is AKL, we stayed at the Beach Club last June and the Yacht Club last December. It's going to be very hard to go back to AKL for us - the location of BC/YC is amazing - you can walk to Epcot and boat over to the Disney Studios. I actually preferred the decor and theming of the YC to the BC. You'll find some of the best dining around there including over at the Boardwalk area. Beahces and Cream is a great place for a snack, but also just a great place for a quick lunch or dinner - try the Kitchen Sink!!paulywdw wrote:I have never stayed at a deluxe resort. i have been to the allstars 4 or 5 times. And Stormalong Bay is an amazing mini-waterpark just for BC/YC guests - we found ourselves spending almost as much time there as we were in the parks.
Maybe I should change my user name to YCRULZ?!

Even if you don't have the stomach for the Kitchen Sink (and, honestly... it's huuuge), be sure to grab a banana split from Beaches & Cream. Delish!AKLRULZ wrote:try the Kitchen Sink!!
I think the next time we go we're going to try for the Yacht Club. We stayed at POFQ last time, which was cool... but visiting the YC was just stellar.

Take a peek at the Kitchen Sink - ours from last June that my family of 5 almost completely demolished but it was still too much for us!

Though I have never stayed there, I have always wanted to stay at the Comtemporay. Something about the monorail running through it appeals to me. I wish the monorail would connect all of the deluxe resorts! I totally love the AKL if only it was serviced by the monorail, then it would be my favorite! I do like that rustic mountain look.

The Contemporary is a must at least once in your life - and splurge on a Tower room - why bother at the Contemporary if you are in one of the wings?!bostoncg wrote:Though I have never stayed there, I have always wanted to stay at the Comtemporay. And do you mean WL, since the AKL has a tribal African theme while WL as the moutain, rustic log cabin theme?! Both are great!

I like every WDW Resort I've ever stayed at, but my favorite by far is Wilderness Lodge (as per my signature pic). The atmosphere is amazing. I could spend a good amount of time just hanging out around the main lobby, listening to the music loop and just relaxing. The entire place is a work of art, and I'd love to have a house one day themed in a similar fashion (a bit smaller I'm sure).
Whispering Canyon is one of our favorite on-property restaurants, and their pool is pretty good too.

Yes Aklrulz, I meant the WL. I remember when I went to visit a friend in Orlando who worked for Disney took me on a tour of the hotels and I fell in love with that one. Do they still do the rubber ducks in the stream for the kids to race down it? I remember him telling me about that. Not the kids racing but the rubber duckies ha ha ha That was probably 10 yrs ago though

Although the tower seems enticing, my only time staying there was in a wing. We were facing SouthEast, right on the water. Secluded, quiet. Very nice. The same room probably has a view of WL now, but then it was great. Oh, and the Water Pageant went right by our room.AKLRULZ wrote:The Contemporary is a must at least once in your life - and splurge on a Tower room - why bother at the Contemporary if you are in one of the wings?!
