Maybe it (to be as clear as possible) should have written Excluding America, or not counting America. But yeah I got the message the first time. The only thing that I like about the American Pavillion is the colonial feel, like Williamsburg.

Norway. Nine words:

"You are not the first to pass this way."

I just don't like the ride-then-movie layout. Even if you want to skip the movie you can still end up being a prisoner in the fishing village if your timing is bad.

I love America, but I'm not wild about the American pavillion; other than the show, it's a little too bland and doesn't convey all the richness of American culture. For instance, the Voices of Liberty are OK, but why not pay more attention music genres like jazz and bluegrass, which were born in America? Why are the food choices limited to things like hamburgers and hot dogs, when American cuisine has so much variety? It seems like the pavillion plays it safe by sticking to generic American stereotypes.

After meeting these guys two weeks ago and knowing how dificult their repetoire is I must defend my new friends, The Voices of Liberty.

They have a very... very large songlist (60+ songs 8-9 part a cappella by memory!) from many different genres including bluegrass and jazz. Usually they go through the same 10 or so songs because it is convienient for them and fit the colonial theme of the pavilion.

You can find their songlist at www.libertyvoices.com

You can request any of their songs if you talk to them right after the show before you want to listen.

All of their arrangements are composed by the same guy (Derric Johnson) so of course they are all similarly styled.

As for favorite country I would need to say Mexico, or Norway (gotta love boatrides).

I chose Norway. I love the restaurant, I like the ride, and the stave church is cool. It smells historic, mmmmmmmmmm. I will admit the CMs there kind of freak me out though, it's like that movie with those alien children that all look the same? Kinda freaky. But I like the accent, ja.

On our last trip in Oct. '05, my partner and I discovered Morocco. We have not tried the restaurant yet. Yes, there is no "attraction" there, but the pavillion is exquisite in it's detail. Next time you are there, take some time to explore and look around. It is truly a unique and beautiful pavillion. The restaurant sounds incredible, with the King's former Chef in the kitchen - it's just gotta be good!!

Mexico is awesome. It's a little dark inside, but the atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is fantastic. Looking forward to being there next week for Cinco deMayo! Ole!

Norway gets my vote. The architecture just transports me. Maelstrom is a fun little attraction, and the movie gives you a nice glimpse into the lives of its people (and that dizzying shot when the camera zooms around the bow of the ship--COOL!) And it has trolls. I mean, come on! Trolls of all things!

I voted for Japan 'cause I love just about everything Japanese. Norway comes in a close second because of Maelstrom.

EPCOT is a boreing place for me. I people watch when I am there. I voted Japan, because I think the Japanese women are beautiful. I am like a diabetic in a candy store when I visit this place. I look and want, but I know if I try some, I'll die. My wife would kill me.

My favortie is France. I love how it looks and I love the movie even more. It's just so romantic. The deserts are the best!!! It's hard to chose just one though cause I love Italy too.

As I have said in a previous post, this is almost impossible to answer. I mean, each country has its own unique designs and atmosphere. Each celebrates its cultre in amazing ways. But after locking myself in the dark for days pulling out hair and seeing pictures in my mind flash by, I emerge beaten and broken with a decision. I had to go with Mexico. I think the way the pavillion is amazing looking and once inside it really feels like you have been taken away.

And the ride, not only fun and relaxing, but because it's never crowded, its almost romantic. Plus, it has a special place in my heart because I remember it is where my family and myself ate when I was a young boy and we took our first trip to Disney world. Sentimenal thoughts always help make places special.
