Which is also why they (Walmarts, Targets, and Cosco) have started showing up in outdoor entertainment and dining districts. Not sure if one would show up at DTD in orlando though.

I could *almost* see a Target ending up on Disney property...as they carry the D-Signed line of kids' clothing...but perhaps Disney can just sell that stuff at WoD.

They usually can't because Disney didn't make those (it's just lisenced stuff) but what makes it a little weird for WDW is that a large portion of their guests are probably on vacation as opposed to locals, so a lot of the services that a big box store would provide wouldn't really work.

Not to mention that there are at least three Targets within 15 miles and two Wal-marts within 5 miles of Downtown Disney. You think Brazilian tour groups are bad in Disney, I hope none of you have to experience them at a Wal-mart...

Three busloads of them pulled up to the Highway 192 Target by my house last summer. They literally trashed the place. The staff was pretty much swearing at the crap they had to clean up after about 150 of them finally let the lowly Americans have their store back.

I think this is a great idea and an area which is in need of some TLC! The last time I went to Disney World I only visited Downtown for Disney's Days of Christmas and World of Disney. I skipped all the other shops.

Last year when I visited I stopped into the shop "CURL". A surf/skate shop, which to me was a nice break from some of the other spots in DTD.

Sounds like what I usually see at the wal-mart/targets in the tourist areas. Thankfully I know where the non-tourist area shops are and don't have to deal with them. :!:

I'm down for the parking garage idea. They need some way to control parking over there.

They will have come a long way since those dance clubs have been removed to make the place more family friendly.

I think we all knew something like this was going to happen once they did away with Pleasure Island and the clubs that were there. It's always been going towards a family area and while it's great now I knew there was going to be something huge that they did with it. I'm intrigued a bit. I think it's slightly too much with additions and it'll cause lots of construction at DTD which will take something away from it, but stil.

I agree the parking garages are long overdue, but with the parking garages it sounds like Downtown Disney is starting to resemble more like...Universal Citywalk over at USO...

If it will make parking over there less of a hassle, I don't care if they airlift your car in or ferry it across the lake. Parking over there even on a freaking weeknight is a witch with a capital B.
