I have to look, too. I know I have some pics "filed" somewhere. Not my favorite, either. It looked really tacky!! I think the gold is pretty, though. Not too overwhelming. They might have chosen some different characters, but over all it looks pretty cool--I like Peter Pan and Wendy...

Anything will look better than when they made it into a cake.

WOW I never knew about the castle being made into a cake!!! I was at WDW in April 96 and the 25th aniversary celebration began Oct 96. Apparently I missed the very pink cake version by 6 months. It certainly is a sight one will never forget.

Anything is an improvement over the cake castle. When Stitch TP'ed the castle it was better than the 25th, the cake was one of the biggest eyesores ever. I still like the pre-HCOE castle.

I felt bad for all of the guests that didn't know, like the ones who got married at WDW. They have a cake castle in their photos. YUCK

I know what you mean, I had seen the castle before the 25th, but it was the first time for my two sisters. It was difficult explaining to them why there was a giant cake where the castle should be. Still all that aside, assuming everyone knew their was a castle underneath, I think the Disney Imagineers did an outstanding job transforming the castle, although I much prefer the 50th decorations. :)

Yeah WDI did a good job, I bet they were less than thrilled to do it though. "So what's up for this year? New attractions? Nope.. Oh... What's this?? You want us to do what?!?!?!?" 8)

I think the cake was one of those ideas that looked fabulous on paper. At least they kept it just for the year. I do like the new decorations though. They are so perfectly in tune with the design of the castle that you almost miss them if you don't look close. The golden sparkle is really perfect for the 50th celebration!

I agree; the year of the cake is the only year we don't have pictures of the family posed in front of the castle -- it shows up in the background of just one picture. It was such a relief to see the castle back to normal on the next visit.

The new decorations are better; Peter Pan and Wendy are brilliant. It could do without that montrous medallion thing in front though.

wooo i was there for the 25th Anniversary - Birthday Cake , well good :) ! ohkay not fanatastic as you couldnt really see the actual castle, but it was there just for that celebration, and it was kinda fun, esp. for the lil' kids lol

i love this style for the latest Celebration, as been said before I like that the castle has been kept and then just the gold characters incorporated :D

- did anyone see the castle when it had been attacked by Sttch lol - with the 'toliet paer' Laugh Out LOUD
