No idea, but you don't hear geographic demands in contracts that often, unless it's a forced exile.
As for the buses, I am sort of surprised they don't brand them more, but it might be due to the high number they would need to do it on and also, the buses are not exactly an icon featured in promotional materials.

You're right! I hadn't even noticed that the film did have it's video game tie-in!Wizzard419 wrote:Since Disney has a stake in almost every consumer field, I would expect them to ban all other promos!mindflipper wrote:I'm waiting for Diz to sell the rights to advertize on the monorails to other companies. Who knows? Maybe an iphone monorail for its next release? Or a monorail for the next release of Windows? There's some $$$ to be made in "product placement"...
Speaking of, they really had no faith in John Carter it seems. They didn't even make a video game for it.
Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
Avengerail made its debut today. I'll reserve judgment until I see it with my own eyes but I can tell you right now, the vents (think of them like when you crack the windows in your car) that go through Captain America and Iron Man look horrible.

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
I would like to reserve judging it until I see it in person, but from the video it looks horrendous. I for one didn't mind the balloons as they didn't affect the overall look with the colored stripe.
I personally am surprised at how little Disney has done in utilizing the buses for advertising. They have the DVC on the back and very little inside the bus for some movies, radio Disney, and Disney channel shows.

That's simple, buses are low profile, too numerous to wrap, and are not something you can boast about. Wrapping a single train on a loop with the main park gets the most exposure for the smallest investment.

Not a fan. If they keep it on the Epcot line, than that's better than it pulling up in front of Magic Kingdom.

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
I don't believe we will get to see this in person, so I will make this particular opinion based strictly on the video MadEye posted.
There are only 2 things I thought looked pretty cool...1) the all black cab as it pulled toward the camera looked like a smooth futuristic train...not an aging monorail (I love them and are partial to them (mainly the IVs that no longer run), but they are definitely aging
) and 2) the lightning looked pretty cool...but anything that was over the windows just didn't really look right to me.
Also, why run this on the MK/resort loop? Wouldn't there be more visuals if it was run on the EPCOT line? Maybe it's just me...
Thanks for posting that video though, MadEye!

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
So I've seen some more pictures/videos and wow it really looks bad IMO.
True, but the variety of advertisement can be increased by utilizing the buses. Just think about most mass transit authorities, they use bus advertising to generate lots of revenue. Disney could easily put big advertisements right on the side of their buses for some random things.Wizzard419 wrote:That's simple, buses are low profile, too numerous to wrap, and are not something you can boast about. Well this one is ONLY going to be on the MK line as opposed to Tronorail that ran the EPCOT line. It made the debut today on the express beam and I have a funny feeling it will be only on that beam.Lori60 wrote:Not a fan. Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
I guess I've kinda learned how to block certain things out since living in Vegas, there are wraps everywhere! On buses, on buildings, on the hotels on the strip for Pete's sake!
Just remember:
It's temporary and will be gone soon...t/g

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
Lots may be a bit... well a great overstatement in many markets, that and taking into account the greater resoruces needed, make buses a poor choice. Bus/Public Transit ad ROI has been fading over the years, and consequently ad space purchases, just like sponsorship for attractions, because there are more effective and eye catching ways to do it.Len90 wrote:So I've seen some more pictures/videos and wow it really looks bad IMO.True, but the variety of advertisement can be increased by utilizing the buses. Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
Ugh, yeah, it does look a lot worse now that it's complete.
And I have to say, I am surprised that it's running the Express line! That's idiotic. Talk about breaking theme...
Is it bad to wish that Monorail Red needs some type of repairs while I am there so I don't have to look at this thing?
ETA: Wizzard, I was reading the article about this in the Sentinel just now and it did say that Disney isn't allowed to build attractions, use the characters, etc. on the East Coast because Universal retained exclusive theme park use to all of that. I would assume that was included in the deal to offset potential damage to their Orlando parks.

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
I'll check it out tomorrow. But just from the preview pic on the Hub... this is more tacky than Tron. And Tron was tacky.

This is EXACTLY what the husband was saying earlier! Almost verbatim.BwanaBob wrote:Not a fan of the Mono-wraps.
I don't understand why they feel the need to wrap the monorails, but all the buses go untouched?
You would think there would be significantly more exposure with the buses?

Are they allowed to have merch yet? At DLR for the past year or so (I forgot if I first saw it last halloween or the one before) you could buy Marvel toys, costumes, clothing, etc.SorcererDonald16 wrote:Ugh, yeah, it does look a lot worse now that it's complete.

I wonder if the east coast's limit is for as long as they own the company or if it is after so many years Marvel will have moved out of Universal.
