Amen to that, Amy. Although, we need some stupid football game every Sunday... no abuse at the Rock 'n Roller Coaster singles line for once today! It was brilliant!!!Amy wrote:Boy do I wish Toy Story Mania had a single rider lineSorcererDonald16 wrote:^Does Toy Store Mania have a single rider line? I've only ridden Spaceship Earth once, but isn't that two to a seat? Not a huge deal there though, because everyone would be in back to back parts of the ride vehicle.
Test Track shouldn't be a problem either though; 9 people would fill one car and half of a second car.But no, they do not...and if they did, it would probably be used and abused as the other single rider lines are

Yup, you are remembering Spaceship Earth correctly. Two humanoids to a seat, four total in a vehicle, but the vehicles are all smooshed together at the beginning and end so it's like everyone is in one huge long vehicle train!

Were you are the park the whole day? Did the crowds drop off dramatically toward the later afternoon?Soarin08 wrote:....Although, we need some stupid football game every Sunday... no abuse at the Rock 'n Roller Coaster singles line for once today! It was brilliant!!!

I don't think my niece will be big enough to ride Test Track. She's only 6 and weighs less than 50 lbs, I think. She's this little blonde pixie, one of the shortest in her class.SorcererDonald16 wrote:^Does Toy Store Mania have a single rider line? If so, they would put the odd numbered person with someone. I think they only go by height, not weight ~ she sounds like a little cutiecy1229 wrote:I don't think my niece will be big enough to ride Test Track. In any case, for Test Track, the height requirement is 40". You might want to check some of the height requirements at the WDW website so you can be prepared ahead of time...

Okay, I have to ask-- What constitutes abusing the single riders line? I don't keep up with them and have only used one a couple times (at Test Track), so I am clueless here.Soarin08 wrote:Amen to that, Amy. Re: Traveling with an odd number
Well, the single riders line is theoretically for people that are riding alone. I use the single rider when it is available because I am riding alone. In my past experience, the single rider line allows me to progress through the queue and on to the attraction with less of a wait than the stand-by line and get back to enjoying the other attractions with my Mom, who does not go on some of the more thrilling rides.SorcererDonald16 wrote:Okay, I have to ask-- What constitutes abusing the single riders line? There are some that argue the sole purpose of the single rider line is to dispatch full ride vehicles and feel anyone should be able to stand in the single rider line. This includes large groups of people who are obviously together and not riding as single riders. They also get up to the loading stations and make a big fuss over being allowed to sit with their friends even though there are many signs indicating parties will be separated and you will have to ride alone.
My thoughts are, that if Disney truly only cares about dispatching fully loaded vehicles, they wouldn't have a single riders line. They would have a "as long as you don't care if you are separated from your group" line. I think the single rider lines should be utilized by people who are truly riding alone. As it is, the single rider line has become more of a secondary stand by line.
I do like when they go along the regular stand by lines looking for single riders at an attraction. That always puts a smile on my face

I am afraid I am guilty then!

If I knew it was frowned upon, I wouldn't have done it. At least that line was almost empty both times, so I don't feel so bad now!

Re: Traveling with an odd number
It doesn't bother me so much when there are 2 or 3 people utilizing the single rider line. It is the larger groups, 5 or 6 people (or the huge tour groups
) that frustrate me. Obviously if a CM suggested it then they really don't mind....

Re: Traveling with an odd number
For the odd number, I think its just a good rule of thumb for people to rotate riding alone so nobody is riding alone every time. Since the kids are older, I think everyone could just take turns riding alone on the 2-person rides and then it doesn't really affect anyone too much.
For guys vs. girly things to do, maybe the guys could go ESPN and then just ride some of the thrill rides that they like best while the ladies go dine at Cinderellas castle, do tea at Grand Floridian or whatever you'd like to do together.
Either way, I hope you have a blast!!

When lines have been too long at EE, the kids and I have done the single riders line. Every time, I've told the kids that they'll be riding on their own, a statement echoed by the CMs when we've gotten to the front. We've also made a plan for meeting up at the end of the ride.
I don't think it's abuse if everyone plays fair by the rules. In other words, you know you won't be riding together when you're doing single riders.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter at Disney World. Fortunately there are a lot of things that don't require a "pair" if you will. For those that do, we just switch it up so the same person isn't always riding by his or herself. Its still a great experience ... after all ... IT'S DISNEY WORLD!
