When we were there it was dec 3rd thru the 9th, and not during the Christmas week craziness so I thought we were safe. However, now that I know they do some of the taping for the Christmas special the first week of Dec, I will avoid it like the plague

I suppose that is the price you pay for coming during a holiday when you know they are taping parades. It is sort of a pain that they couldn't be nicer about it though.
For the CMs who work the parade taping, it's either deal with the guests not there for the taping or deal with their managers. I'd want to deal with the guests rather than the managers (don't get me wrong, I've had some great managers when working at WDW but the horrible ones far outnumber the good

).
Like I said, you gotta do what you gotta do

. I would never hold the cast-members responsible for such an inconvenience,(I would still have wanted to be there rather than anywhere else in the world on that day), what a time they must have had trying to make it all work. They could close the park while they tape

. Besides I forgot to mention that the castmembers doing the ushering were wearing their Mickey hands

They wouldn't do that because then they would be forced to pay people to stand in the crowd sections for the taping, this way you not only do it for free but you actually end up paying them to be extras.

No Beiber sighting here. We stayed at the MK for roughly 10 minutes to get a couple of Christmassy photos of the kids. Then we high tailed it out of there. The CM's in the Confectionary today were talking about all the screaming ladies though.

I can only imagine what those crowds are like. It's bad enough to be there on 4th of july when they just have the insane crowds and no parade tapings closing up areas. Did they happen to open up the backstage bypass so you can avoid Main Street and the hub?

Oooo, that's a good question. I would guess they did not. When we were there during taping about 10 years ago, you just shuffled through the crowds the best you could. Even trying to short-cut down through the shops was a pain
