Favorite Counter Service meals at WDW?
I thought it would be interesting to find out the favorite little haunts for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the parks and/or resorts to get great food without spending a lot of time and money for a sit-down meal.
My favorites would be:
Breakfast - Captain Cook's Snack Company at the Polynesian Resort for Mickey Waffles and Tonga Toast! It's half the price of the exact same thing at the Kona Cafe upstairs, and the bonus is just hop on the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom!
Lunch - Pecos Bill Cafe in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom for Cheeseburgers with that fabulous fixin' buffet!
Dinner - The Rose and Crown outdoor service in United Kingdom at EPCOT for Fish and Chips that are half the price as the same thing inside the restaurant!

It stinks because there used to be a great Turkey wrap at the Magic Kingdom but has since been replaced with a crappy sandwich ... let down, but I had to try it. Other than that, I like the food courts at the All Star Resorts.

They really do have some fairly decent food. I keep thinking that one time I will be brave and sidle up to a really large family and see if they notice me sitting there and offer me a slice of pizzaSatchel T wrote:It stinks because there used to be a great Turkey wrap at the Magic Kingdom but has since been replaced with a crappy sandwich ... let down, but I had to try it. By park, for any meal-
MK: Columbia Harbour House. Second choice is Cosmic Ray's.
Epcot (Future World): Sunshine Seasons
Epcot (World Showcase): Yorkshire County Fish Shop and then Sommerfest
DHS: Starring Rolls Cafe
DAK: Flame Tree Barbecue
I can get into resorts if you want, I've dined at every resort QSR....

In MK Pecos Bill's has always been a favorite, but I have to say that Cosmic Ray's has improved greatly in the last few years and now is a close second. In AK it's Flame Tree BBQ hands down. DHS is Pizza Planet, and Epcot is La Cantina (Mexico), Yorkshire County Fish Shop (UK), or Sunshine Seasons in Living With The Land.

Cosmic Ray's has a nice selection, it is just difficult if not everyone wants the same kind of food. We went when it was super busy, had a rough time finding a table. F1gment sat and held the table while I went and got her food. That was about a 30 hour wait. Then I had to fight back to the table. Then start the whole process over for myself in another line. I was pretty cranky after an hour of fighting crowds. The worst was the family in front of me when I was in line for my food had children that kept screaming at the top of their lungs, kicking and running and jumping, and the parents were sadly oblivious...the food was tasty though.SimonTemplar wrote:In MK Pecos Bill's has always been a favorite, but I have to say that Cosmic Ray's has improved greatly in the last few years and now is a close second. Pizza Planet was a must stop for me this past trip but the pizza I got was highly disappointing. Mom got a meatball sandwich that I tried even though I really don't eat beef and that was better than my pizza! She got another meatball sandwich at the Electric Umbrella another evening and it wasn't tasty at all. It seems like there are inconsistencies in food tastes and portions that shouldn't happen.
Sunshine Seasons in the Land is awesome

I actually prefer resort QSR over the parks unless I'm at Epcot... the food at the resorts is better and it's cheaper for me since I get 20% off all day. Epcot is the only park I really will eat QSR in without considering a resort first, with all the options in WS and all.

For sure the resorts have awesome food. We have eaten at the Roaring Forks at the Wilderness Lodge so many times, I love it there! Another great place to have dinner and watch the fireworks is Gasparilla Grill at the Grand Floridian. The food is really great and all you do is walk outside and eat at a table overlooking Magic Kingdom and the the fireworks over the castle! It's right on the water where small boats dock as well, a nice place to beat the crowds! And they pipe in the music to Wishes!
Re: Favorite Counter Service meals at WDW?
Amy, did you know that there's seating outside on the terrace on the castle side? Most people don't know about those tables and they're usually available. Plus, you get a great view of the castle. It's my very favourite CS at night because you can watch the castle changing colour while you eat.Amy wrote: Cosmic Ray's has a nice selection, it is just difficult if not everyone wants the same kind of food. My very favourite CS is at Epcot, though. I love Sunshine Seasons. Great food and great variety.
