Settling room charges at end of trip
I will be staying at CSR next week. I know that I can get room charging privileges by leaving a cc # when I check in. However, there is a good possibility that I may charge more to the room than I have available on the cc. The question I have is simply, can I settle any room charges on my bill that aren't covered by the cc with a personal check? Or will they only accept the cc or cash? Thank you in advance for your help.
Are we there yet? When can we go back?
I don't know what's worse, the anticipation of going or the withdrawals after getting home.

I really doubt they accept a personal check since you can't pay for your room with a check when you check-in (wow did I really just use the word check 3 times). They willl however take a debit card

I would suggest you make your payment intentions VERY clear when you check in - make sure there is a note on your file as well. On a trip a few years ago we advised the desk at OKW that intended on using cash and traveller's cheques to pay the balance of our room key charges upon checkout. Regardless, Disney went ahead and charged my CC. Because we are from Canada (and the exchange rate for CC charges vs. credits was different), I went through hell convincing Disney to re-imburse the difference to me.
Can't get back to WDW soon enought, but alas, no immediate plans...

I think you might be able to put a limit on your card, but if you really want to play it safe I suggest not giving them an imprint for incidentials, of if you do, holding off on it's usage.

I'm not sure whether or not they will accept checks. When you check in, ask about when they run the charges on the cards. If I remember correctly, it seems like it's around 4-6 am the morning you're checking out, but it's definitely after midnight of your last night there. Any time before they run it, you can pay off all or part of the balance. My husband and I have done this numerous times with gift cards or cash.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Last October I got sperated from my wife at MK. I stopped in one of the shops and found a few items that I was looking for. Low and behold my wife had all the Disney Gift Cards (Go Figure
) with her and left my CC back at the motel so not to be tempted. All I had with me was check. They would not take the check. Sooo I assume that would also be the case at the resort. Good luck.

Especially now, checks are like debt cards. They scan the check and the money is out of your account right away!Amy wrote:Wow ~ I can't believe the stores won't accept a check as paymentGoofyfan wrote:Last October I got sperated from my wife at MK. Not at stores though, paper checks still have a time lag, unlike debit cards. Taking the check doesn't have a swipe fee but there is the risk that it will bounce and they will be SOL.

Re: Settling room charges at end of trip
Disney I believe limits you to $2,500 of room charging at a time. Once you have a charge that will put you over the limit you have to call up your resort front desk (or go there in person) and have them reset your card so you can continue charging past the $2,500. IF that happens to be too much then you can try talking to them about instituting a lower limit. Another option is you might be able to put a balance on your room account ahead of time to try and cover some of the early charges you put on.

This is true. Also, if you start getting close to your limit, they will notify you. You can then talk to them about other arrangements. We've had that happen before... the card we used at check-in was closer to the limit than we thought, and when it maxed out they contacted us to come to the desk and switch to a different card.Len90 wrote:Disney I believe limits you to $2,500 of room charging at a time. Thats what i thought. knowing how far advanced Disney is with technology, I thought that would be a given.
