I knew that, Soarin08; I was just trying to provide others with the opportunity to create a little mayhem from it...Soarin08 wrote:I think Jacca means King CRAB. Typos happen to the most awesome of us.mindflipper wrote:Okay, I have to ask...what's a King Grab?![]()

I'm with you, I would much rather have another land dedicated to real animals. I"ll take the rainforest over pandora anyday of the week. I just can't wrap my head around it, and I so hope Disney rethinks this. I really hate the thought of them trying to compete with a park as lame as Universal. Disney imagineers are so amazing, they don't need franchises such as Avitar to draw crowds.DIAC1987 wrote:I am so disappointed in reading this news. Instead of an Australia or a South America section to the Animal Kingdom, we get...Avatar.....an overrated movie that has already been forgotten despite being the top-grossing movie of all-time.
Can you imagine if they took the story of Alice in Wonderland, for example, and created an attraction using new technologies

? Now this would fit perfectly into the MK! Disneys stories and characters are aboslutely timeless
They need to stop trying to jump on every band wagon that comes down the road, it really mkes them appear lost and desparate
Walt would be p*** OFF
It's my belief Walt would find all this competition to be stupid and would have vetoed this idea.

Maybe the reason they're not adding AVATAR land to DHS is because they're already committed that space to TWILIGHT area instead?

OH MY GOD TAKE IT BACK. I'd rather have Avatar and I hate that idea enough as it is...mindflipper wrote:Maybe the reason they're not adding AVATAR land to DHS is because they're already committed that space to TWILIGHT area instead?

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
They're building AVATAR to get the teenager and young adult market. They are doing it in the AK because it's the least visited park. Yea, unfortunately they do have to compete with Universal!

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
Considering we live in a capitalist society, comeptition is kind of everything. If you do things just for you, don't be surprised when you run out of money.Soarin08 wrote:Amen to that, Sharon! You hit all the points right on the head. I feel like the Imagineers are getting lazy. And WHO CARES about competing with Universal, Disney is always going to be better and remain on top. They're shooting themselves in the foot capitalising on a franchise that hasn't even proven it can be a massive success. Do you see them retheming the area of DHS with Star Tours to become Star Wars Land? Uhhh NO and Star Wars has INFINITE success over anything Avatar can or ever will have.
It's my belief Walt would find all this competition to be stupid and would have vetoed this idea.
As for an unproven franchise... good god woman, what will it take to satisfy you? It made almost 3 billion and required 2 sets of releases due to popular demand.
The key is that, unlike twilight, it didn't wear itself out during it's first run (the numbers for twilight have been dropping with each film becuase the audience either ages out of the demographic or simply loses interest)

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
It would probably helluvalot cheaper to build a TWILIGHT area than an AVATAR area, and they both have one thing in common: both got two more films in the pipeline...

Re: AVATAR coming to WDW
At this point? Probably since that's in an actual decline (can't measure avatar since there is nothing to measure) but we only know there are "at least 2 more films" for avatar.

I'm not complaining about an expansion but when I first heard the rumours ABOUT expanding, I was not expecting this.![]()
I'm surprised James Cameron let them have the rights to do this...
I agree! the scenery was nice...then it got boring. anyone see this?

People won't set fire to AVATAR land. Twilight land wouldn't last very long. I think you have just found a reason for me to never go back to Disney!!mindflipper wrote:It would probably helluvalot cheaper to build a TWILIGHT area than an AVATAR area, and they both have one thing in common: both got two more films in the pipeline...
