As we have already a topic thread on this:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6647
Maybe we need to have the moderators close one as we only need one thread on this topic.

Main Street Electrical Parade hands down is the best.

Both are great. Both have unique enjoyable music. But I think if I had to watch one over the other, it would have to be the main street electic parade.

I prefer MSEP. I have seen spectro hundreds of times and MSEP only once. I don't know...there is just something about MSEP that just is awesome.

Spectro is the better show. All the praise I've seen for MSEP has been nostalgia-based, and there's not necessarily anything wrong with that. But since my family never stayed in the parks until dark on my childhood visits to WDW, I was able to experience both shows as an adult, without viewing either through the lens of nostalgia, and Spectro is technically superior. The music is better, the floats are better, everything is better. MSEP has a special place in Disney history, much like the Model T has a special place in automotive history. But no one would want to drive a Model T if they could have a Camry.

No offense, but I'd take the Model T over the CamryFuture Guy wrote:Spectro is the better show. My big complaint is Spectro is short. Even when DLR's MSEP comes to WDW they strip out floats so the parade can be shorter at WDW. But if you are comparing solely on technical factors rather than entertainment, then the Japanese have us beat in all respects: Electrical Parade Dreamlights (and its predecessor Fantillusion) beats Spectro on floats, and floats. Fantillusion is parade in three parts - and one part is dedicated solely to the villians! How can you beat that?!?

I'd say Japan's theme parks are better than the USA's (especially Florida's) in just about all respects because they actually care enough to invest money into them. In the USA the fact that WDW's MK is the most-visited theme park in the world is used to justify not spending money on maintenance or other "extras", because the reasoning is that people will come anyway. In Japan that mindset would be unthinkable.

This is so unfortunately true! The "people will come anyway" mentality has allowed the parks to erode into the shape they are now anyway.Future Guy wrote:In the USA the fact that WDW's MK is the most-visited theme park in the world is used to justify not spending money on maintenance or other "extras", because the reasoning is that people will come anyway. Re: Main Street Electrical Parade VS. Spectromagic?
When I was a CM way back when, I worked both Spectro and ELP. SpectroMagic will always be my favorite. I can even remember back in '91 when Spectro debuted, sitting on the pavement waiting for the parade. My brother and I kept saying that nothing could be better that the MSEP, but by the end of our first viewing of SpectroMagic, we were completely converted.
