Hmmmm, when did this start? They didn't offer anything like that when I made reservations a week ago...

Just was announced a day or so ago...you might check with the reservations agent and see if you can change your ressies to include the free dining.mindflipper wrote:Hmmmm, when did this start? They didn't offer anything like that when I made reservations a week ago...

Re: October Rumblings?
What stinks is that the January free dining starts after we're looking to arrive. I guess we would have to have 2 different ressies. Perhaps save some $$$ by doing a Value resort at first (and pay for the dining plan), and bump up to a nicer resort (and free dining) for the second half???
I like the idea of the dining plan too because like you Amy, we usually settle for whatever is least expensive. At least with the dining plan, we can order whatever we'd like to try and not have to worry about that so much. Plus there are many places we'd like to try. With hubby's condition, it's hard for him to be on the go so much and it's good for us to take the time to eat at a sit-down restaurant so he can get some rest. (that goes for both of us if I'm pushing a w/c!)

I'm not sure how the dining plan works but I know when we went, it started (or ended) within a day or two of our arrival (departure) - sorry, I can't remember - but all we had to do was adjust our days by a few and then it was covered, so maybe you can do the same thing!MmeLeota wrote:What stinks is that the January free dining starts after we're looking to arrive. F1gment rented a ECV (scooter). You might want to check into that when you are going. It saved my muscles and patience and she loved the freedom it gave her.
Mom also is pulling strongly for the meal plan again. She liked not having to have money with her. I told her that if it is a big difference on the AP discount on the room vs. the meal plan, I'll just give her my credit card

I'm sure people already know...but they posted AP discounts through Dec. 24th. I'm sure it will be released to the general public soon, if it already has not been done?!

If budget is important when booking your free dining plan make sure you do all the math. You can only the the quick service free dining with the value resorts. To get full service free dining you need to book at moderate or deluxe resort. But booking a value resort and paying for the full service dining plan actually works out cheaper in many cases then booking the moderate with the free dining plan!

We really only eat in the quick service restaurants, we are too on the go for sitting and taking time for a big meal. We did eat at Via Napoli on this last trip and would likely eat there again, but that's about it. Well, we did eat at O'hana too for the meet-up but we wouldn't likely eat there again...too expensive and not the sort of food we likeMouseMan wrote:If budget is important when booking your free dining plan make sure you do all the math. Re: October Rumblings?
Does anyone know the answer to this question....if we end up booking a package, that includes tickets (since they all seem to be room/ticket/dining plan with the free dining plan) and we don't use the tickets at all (because we have our AP), would those tickets be good until we took another trip if we never used them at all? I know they say they expire 14 days after the first use, but what if we never used them?

I think you have to pay to get "no expiration" option on tickets, but on the tickets that aren't used at all isn't there a 6 month expiration?

Re: October Rumblings?
I'm almost positive you have to add the "no expiration" option in order for them to still be good.
Re: October Rumblings?
Same for us ... We did deluxe a few years ago and it seemed like every time we were about to do something fun we'd have to postpone so we could make it to a reservation on time. Then by the time we were done getting to ressie, eating, and getting back to the park of choice we'd wasted 3 hours...Amy wrote:We really only eat in the quick service restaurants, we are too on the go for sitting and taking time for a big meal.
