Is there really that much demand outside of Disney for a tribute band?
I always thought the bands at Epcot were like the ones at Disneyland where the name stays the same (since it's owned by Disney) and the talent changes out, but it appears that some of them are contracted.

This will make my father extreemly sad. One of his favorite parts of going to EC was to sit and listen to the British Invasion. This will be almost as bad for him as when they did away with the double decker busses that used to circle EC.

Believe it or not we just went to a concert by a Beatles tribute band.....I can't remember their name at the moment. It was a lot of fun.
Edit: My husband says it was the Fab Four. (He did not have fun)

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at.
No one, other than event planners, actively seeks out a Fab Four (they can't call themselves a Beatles Tribute without extra payout). Have you ever asked "Oh is there a beatles tribute band playing tonight?":D

That's a shame. I never actually saw them perform, but I just love hearing them on the radio here. They did a phenomenal job, and actually sounded a lot like them.
Hope everything works out for them.. and I'm able to catch them once they do a reunion of some sort.

Wow that is kind of saddening. It was always a treat to walk into the International Gateway and hear the music as you went through the turn styles. They always sounded great and will be a great loss to the pavilion.

Maybe Disney could assemble their own version of "The British Invasion" to continue to play at Epcot. They really added to the experience and it seemed like they always drew a crowd.

Re: No more British Invasion
There's got to be some demand for tribute bands. A quick google search shows there are 127 Beatles tribute bands. British INvasion was not listed among them. The Genesis website lists 57 Genesis tribute bands. And that's for band that has more of a cult following.

Re: No more British Invasion
Quantity does not always mean demand, you could have 2,000 copies of the movie Glitter, it doesn't mean people want them.
I remember a funny quote about tribute bands (paraphrasing here) they all suck because the fans will never say they are as good as the original and they can't do any original work because the fans dont want that as well.
I'm sure they are casting a new band right now, they must have left on decent terms since they said they would return occasionally.

There must be some demand. It would reason to think that if there was little demand, the bands would not exist.Wizzard419 wrote:Quantity does not always mean demand
If you have 2000 copies of Glitter, someone paid to have them produced. And further, you were the "demand" for them as you purchased the copies.

There may have been a prank invovled to replace all the movies at a library with copies of glitter.

Re: No more British Invasion
When we went to see the Fab Four the theater was full. (It was a pretty good size venue too)
My husband did not enjoy it because the Beatles are not his thing, but considering the number of times I have had to go see Earth, Wind and Fire...He owed me!!
