And if you don't like it, visit WDW during a dead time of year when you don't need FP
Is there such a thing as a "dead time of year" anymore???
I agree that FP is great (and sucks when you're in the standby line!). But you're right that you do miss a lot of the "pre story" of the attraction (for example, Tower of Terror... that line is awesome!). So, sometimes I'll split up my FP and wait in a full-blown standby line from time to time... just to get the whole experience.

I like anything that makes Disney better than or equal to the "other guys". When Universal offered their version, Disney had to jump on the wagon or stay on the wagon...who came first.
Plus I love being able to do stuff, even when the park is crowded.

They are very good, if you balance it right. Depending on time and the ride I'll use. Mostly during the summer. Buzz Lightyear would have kill me if i didn't use the fastpass.
I've gone full circle on my avatars.

Fast pass is a great thing. It let's you maximize your time in the parks.
Let's face it, a WDW vacation is not an inexpensive undertaking and this is just one of the things that help you get more done for your money.
I use it when the standby line is longer than about 20 minutes, if it's shorter, then I'll wait in line.

Yes. FASTPASS really does help the more patient guests manage time more efficiently.
After all, Disney's 4th key is Efficiency.

I love fastpasses but only if I'm going to do certain rides in the same area. If I have to catch a show at a certain time and it falls in the same time as my Fastpass, then its just a waste. On my last trip, I had a fastpass for Rock n Roller Coaster but I wanted to see the last show of Beauty and the Beast at the same time.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Great point, we have done that many times.

One of the other things I sometimes miss when using the fast pass is the whole conversing and people watching. I'm an aspriring writer so I love to watch people talking, yelling, laughing etc. So when I use the fast pass, I miss a lot of it.
But what about when your with friends? Do you still love using the fast pass? I still do for some rides, but sometimes when I'm with friends it's nice to stand in line and do some talking.

You can still do that. With the time I save with FASTPASS, I often sit on a park bench somewhere to relax, strike up a conversation with someone next to me. It's also a great spot to people watch from.

I love to people watch, especially at a place like Disney World where you can run into anyone.
On our last trip, we ran into Tom Caron (NESN tv guide for Red Sox/Bruins games), his voice stood out heh. And I always seem to run into someone back from my hometown also.
Also, I met some people in the Singles line and stuff too.

I like the Fast Pass system because it allows you to plan out a couple of hours in your day. I think that Disney needs to be careful that they don't over do it and make too many attractions Fast Pass.
The recent rumors about linking Fast Pass to your hotel reservation and giving more fast passes to those staying in deluxe resorts doesn't thrill me. I think you will anger a lot of people with that idea.

I love the FastPass system. We use it whenever we can. However, sometimes we'll go slowly through the queue, letting people pass us, just so we can enjoy the sights (this, of course, only works on rides where the queues are the same or similar (like Star Tours and Indiana Jones in Disneyland).

Fastpasses are a great idea and it's been working good for me and my family so far. First thing we do in a Disney park, is get the fastpasses of the most popular attractions.

Of course, since CM's don't (or I should say, haven't, ever, in my experience) held you to the "end time" on the FastPass (though they are EXACT and ADAMANT on the "start time"), you could just go back after that show.
Every once in a while I'll find an FP on the ground, with an "end time" of a while ago. I figure, someone must have just tossed it because they thought it wasn't good any more. More quick lines for me!

I hate and love them. I don't like them on any ride in any of the Magic Kingdom style Park and most stuff in epcot. It changes your day from lets do this to we have to do this now. The other parks I never see the need for them anyway.
I agree with you spaulo, they do enforce the start more than the stop. They also don't remember you if you go through a second, third, or fourth but don't try a fifth they get wise. The way I do it is I get other peoples tickets for the attraction (people who don't want to ride it but you love it) and get them to give you tickets.
