The only Geocache?

Post by gorilla » Nov Thu 17, 2005 1:52 pm

Well I got to thinking about the best kept secret of Disney thread. Then it Hit me! How many here have signed the hidden Geocache?

If you don't know what it is, here if the FAQ:
http://www.geocaching.com/faq/

There are a bunch of what are called "Virtual Caches" in WDW. But there is actually one true physical geocache in WDW. You can sign it. It is VERY tough to:

Find, get, sign, replace. All without anyone seeing you do it!

We've signed it. ;)

Ahhhhh crud!!!! I just went to check the status of the cache, looks like someone ruined it by placing an ammo crate (Commonly used for caches because they stand up to the weather.)
I received correspondence from Disney staff today. Due to an ammo can that triggered a security response, it appears that Disney security is sweeping all the properties for physical caches and removing them. No new physical caches will be allowed on Disney property until futher notice.
:(

Oh well. We were part of it while it lasted.

ANywho, it was hidden in the rafters of the Viking Church built with no nails.

There were a heckuva lot more than 1 geocache there (though if they swept for them, that stinks)... geocaching.org used to list dozens on-property.

Yes but the majority of them were 'virtual' caches. Which are different.

Ok i'm not into the whole geocaching thing... just thought it was cool that D security found it.

Guess there is more to the security then a bunch of old guys in colorful uniforms :)
