I'm sure the townsfolk are pretty unsettled, but I don't think I'd put too much stock into there being repeats here. A homicide was bound to happen, if anything I'm surprised it took this long. And unfortunately, the holiday season can bring joy but also to others extreme depression. That's particularly true in a case like the 2nd gentleman, where he's probably for the first time in a long time spending the holidays without his family seeing as how he apparently was estranged/divorced from his wife (I always feel silly basing it off a Facebook status update, but sickingly that's the way the world is heading...). I don't think he was trying to injure the officers either, he was probably trying to pull off a suicide-by-cop and just failed. I find it hard to believe that someone who is apparently military trained, performing an ambush wouldn't at least injure one officer unless he wasn't really interested in killing anyone but himself. Maybe I'm assuming it was an ambush a bit, but the way it's described it sounds like he randomly opened fire on deputies.

Who knows, maybe they'll find out the two are actually linked.

Actually, there are currently THREE different forum/threads on this ONE topic! Hopefully we can consolidate back into one. The first one that got started appears to be this one:
