narcoose's and kids

Post by nicklesm17 » Aug Sun 29, 2010 9:25 am

some friends of a friend just returned from wdw. they said while eating at narcoose's they witnessed a couple w/ 2 small children being refused entrance. this on the premise of their children being too young. now, i know they have a children's menu here, so this sounds strange. do they perhaps not allow children after a certain time in the evening? or is their a minimum age children must be? everyone who's eaten here says this is the best food in wdw. worth the 2 (signature) dining credits. i don't think we'll be trying it this trip, but you never know... and eventually i do intend to eat here. i'd sure hate to put the time aside to get there, only to have to re-waste it getting back to where ever we came from. i don't think the kids mood would be very good after that either. anyone know anything about this?

I did some quick checking around and found lots of people that dined with children. And there is definitely a children's menu available. The only thing I found that might have explained what your friend's friends saw is that Narcoossee's does have a dress code.
This is from the official Disney site:
Dress Code Guidelines:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.
Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.
I would guess that might likely have been the problem rather than the children.

All 3 times we've dined here (and it was later in the evening for dinner), there have been children in the restaurant. So, I'm not really sure why someone would've said their children were denied entry? Possibly calling the actual restaurant and asking them?!

yes, i know about the dress code. this may have been the issue. having heard 3rd hand, you never know. this is why i'd like to hear an actual "eyewitness" account, if one even exists. if not i'll have to remember to "phone first" as suggested, the day we actually decide to do it. i can see overlooking your 2 year old wearing a t-shirt, could they really be that strict?

Well it does say that t-shirts are allowed, just not if they have offensive graphics or sayings. Which you would really hope no one in WDW would have on anyhow! I would guess it was one of the parents was wearing a tank top, or very casual shorts...

The first time we dined at Narcoossee's, we were a bit over dressed, it's basically business casual or even a little more laid back than that. I didn't see the dress code being that strict there. I'm sure as long as you have nothing offensive on your t-shirt or don't have a bathing suit on, you'd be fine!

It most likely had to be the dress code. Although it has been toned down over the past years, they still try to keep to it a bit. I know California Grill has a similar dress code and we were okay wearing cargo shorts and t-shirts. There were kids inside there too.
