WDW For Free

Post by horizons1 » Jul Sun 25, 2010 8:28 pm

I was thinking about all the things you can do at the WDW resort that do not require a ticket and thought it might make a good discussion topic. If you were able to go to WDW but were not allowed to buy a park ticket (due to time restrictions or whatever) what would you do to get a taste of the magic without paying any admission fees or ideally any fees at all?

Here are some things I thought of:

1. Epcot Tour via Monorail. TTC - Epcot and round trip just to get a view of Epcot close-up
2. Walk around the lagoon from Boardwalk to Y&BC and back
3. Take a friendship boat ride from Boardwalk or T&BC to DHS and back
4. Take a ferry boat ride across Seven Seas Lagoon
5. Watch MK fireworks from the beach at Poly

Obviously, many of these things assume you are some sort of paying guest. For example, the transportation is not for freeloaders who wander in off property. So assume you are legit.

I can probably think of a dozen more but I'll wait and see what others come up with.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

There are probably a lot of things to do for "free" or for little cash!
Walk around Downtown Disney and take in the atmosphere, sit by the water, take pictures, sip a drink....
Pay to park or park at the Poly then watch the fireworks from the TTC or from the Ferryboat.
Drive to Riverside and park then walk around the gorgeous resort. Read a book sitting in the gazebo by the canal in front of the Mansions.
Drive over to The Animal Kingdom Lodge and walk out the back of the resort and see the animals up close and talk to cast members from Africa.

Those are just off the top of my head.....
Walt Disney World. Home away from Home.

Before my DW and I got married we walked over to the Wedding Pavilion and snooped around. We even got to take our picture on the "altar" with the window view of the castle in the background. Haven't been there since (12 years ago), so I don't know if they let you that close now.

Have a Dole Whip in the Polynesian... you don't even have to go in the park!

I've done it many times, especially when they used to the Annual Stockholder's Meetings at the Contemporary. How I wish they would go back to alternating the meetings between DLR and WDW again...

If I went to WDW without buying a park ticket I would....

1- Take the Monorail.
2- Walk Downtown Disney.
3- Tour the Hotels.
4- Take the boat across the Seven Seas Lagoon.
5- Watch the Fireworks from a nearby hotel.

That's all I can think of right now.

Nice photo of the doubleboilers! Let's see, NaCler snooped around 12 years ago, how long have you and b-babe been married? Maybe we can send MadEye on a top-secret mission :D

Our favorite free things to do include visiting the resorts and watching the electrical water pageant from Poly.

Visit AKL and look for animals from the lobby or hotel wing viewng areas. There are lots of other things to look at there as well. And then enjoy dinner at Boma!
Can't get back to WDW soon enought, but alas, no immediate plans...
