theBIGyowski wrote:What's crazy...is that I ran in the 2009 WDW Half Marathon (as well as the 2008 Half Marathon)...and it filled up by the middle of March. So...on March 15, 2008...the 2009 WDW Half Marathon was completely full. It is June 9th today and the Half is only 60% full. Amazing what the economy will do to things like this...as well as making the race larger of course. Still...I can't believe that it is only 60% full right now.
Sad thing is that I will not be able to run in this race again until my soon-to-be wife isn't teaching because she can't miss school right after coming back from the break in December.
I think that has more to do with your second point about the race being larger. 2010 saw about 17500 people finish the 1/2 marathon while in 2009 only approx. 13000 finished. Also the fact that they have three other 1/2 marathons throughout the year might have something to do w/ it.

That will be fun! Will both of you be coming during the marathon? That is a long way to come for a race, I hope you are making a nice vacation out of it as well?

Sleepy90 isn't coming for the running adventure

I'm all alone for the week.
She is coming back with me in Feb for two weeks (no unnecessary running).

I knew I liked your wife! I think running should be saved for important occasions, like when you are being chased by a bear or an alligator...heeeeyyy, you're doing lots of running in Florida where there are numerous alligators...oooooohhh, now I get it!

(You'll have to forgive me, I think the heat has warped my brain

The last mile of the Marathon runs through World Showcase. So...if you can make it 25 miles...you can pick up a beer from Germany to get you through that last mile.

Haha... Too bad it doesn't start in WS. Then you would feel no pain the rest of the way!

I don't think they will sweep you once you make it to Epcot either...so unless you are already in last place...you can afford to take it easy and enjoy a beverage. I believe someone would have to buy it and hand it to you though because you would have to leave the course to go to any counter service places.
After 25 miles of running...that alcohol would get you toasted in a heartbeat. Half a beer would probably be enough to numb all pain at that time since your body breaks down anything and everything when it is fatigued and starved like that.

You don't make it sound very pleasant!

An ice cold beer is amazing at the end of a long race. It is refreshing, has carbs your body can use, and it helps to numb the pain. You just don't need a lot of it because you'd probably pass out due to the alcohol going straight to your blood.
