Chef Mickey's for sentimental reasons, but Crystal Palace for the food. Tusker House and Ohana are both on our list for the next trip, though. I reserve the right to change my mind in about 3 weeks!

I had no idea that Yachtman served a breakfast buffet. Is it also 2 TS? If so, it must be incredible.Mark86 wrote:Yachtsman Grill! They definitely lose money on me. The only problem is my clothes don't fit after I am done eating breakfast there!

I think the buffet is at the Captain's Grille but I'll have to double check. I don't remember any buffet at the Yachtsman.momeja wrote:I had no idea that Yachtman served a breakfast buffet. OK I just checked and there is no breakfast (buffet or otherwise) served at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. The buffet is at the Captain's Grille. However, the first time we went I do remember making the same name mistake when we had ADR's for dinner at the Yachtsman. The sign at the entrance of the Captain's Grille says "Yacht Club Galley" so in we went. Never mind about ADR's that I INSISTED we had that the podium didn't know anything about. They relented, apologized and seated us. A sense of impending disaster started to creep over me as I looked over the menu, noticed the name, that it was only one TS credit instead of two, and just got a general feeling of OOPS. I timidly asked the waiter the million dollar question and was quietly informed the restaurant we was supposed to be in was further down the hallway. The staff were really nice and helped us make the move to the correct restaurant (drinks, etc) and even transferred the drinks to the Yachtsman tab. I made sure I returned and tipped all the staff that eased us through a rather awkward "Magical Moment".

How was the buffet, Jim? Captain's Grille should serve a good one.
And, more importantly, how was the coffee????

Actually, I haven't tried the buffet at the Captain's Grille. (I wonder if that's a subconsious avoidance..Hmmm.) The buffet does get high praise though. At any rate, this link will help you find the decent coffee at WDW. Good coffee in Florida seems to be somewhat elusive, in the same category as fresh bagels, NY Jewish deli sandwiches and Brooklyn pizza. The press pot and latte offerings have been good in my experience.momeja wrote:How was the buffet, Jim? Captain's Grille should serve a good one.

Re: Best Breakfeast Buffet
We've only ever done Chef Mickey's, but I've heard such good things about the characters at 1900 Park Fare that I think we'll try that one on our next multi-day trip.
Re: Best Breakfeast Buffet
Future Guy, you won't be disappointed. Park Fare's breakfast is definitely worth the price. And the character interaction is great, too.

Park Fare had the best made to order omlets I've had on property. We were so full we had to rest an hour before going to MK.

My wife and I thought 1900 Park Fare had a nice spread, and the decoration was fitting of the name, but be forewarned of the potentially boisterous and rabble-rousing characters. The Mad Hatter has been known to spill "tea" made with drinking water all over the table during his schtick, so be sure to keep your napkin on your lap and your reflexes sharp if you want to avoid a trip back to your room after breakfast!Future Guy wrote:We've only ever done Chef Mickey's, but I've heard such good things about the characters at 1900 Park Fare that I think we'll try that one on our next multi-day trip.

Re: Best Breakfeast Buffet
How many TS credits are a typical character breakfast buffet if you are on the dining plan?
We would love to try some of the places mentioned in this thread!

Just 1TS unless it's Cindella's Royal Gala at the Castle. That one is 2 TS.

Re: Best Breakfeast Buffet
Nice! I was thinking that these would all be 2 TS and trying to figure out how to use the credits properly.
I have heard that Cinderella's Royal Buffet (or whatever the full name is) is not worth it...is that the general opinion?

Re: Best Breakfeast Buffet
It's a lot of money for the experience. On the other hand, there's only one castle with a restaurant at Disney. I took the family there for my birthday a few years back because I have wonderful memories of eating there with my parents when I was little on my first trip to WDW. On the other hand, it's a very rare experience for us, one that we only do about once a decade or so.
There are other wonderful character meals out there that aren't as expensive - Crystal Palace is beautiful (more beautiful than the castle, jmho) and only 1 TS. Both the buffets at Park Fare (breakfast and dinner) are fantastic. So is the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at Ohana at the Poly (although I like the non-character dinner there even more). Akershus at Epcot has princesses and also is very beautiful. Garden Grill is more low key but also fun (food is just so-so, though).
If you have an itch to eat at the Castle, you've got to just spend the money and do it, which I totally understand. I had to on my birthday, after all. But if you don't, there are lots of better and cheaper character meals to be found at Disney.
