I agree, thats where I was seated for my first flight. Soarin' is a great ride and seems to fit very well into the Land pavillion. Wish ride duration was a bit longer.kgmadorin wrote:It really is great, Rich. If you can, try to sit in the center of the three loading zones, and in the first row. That will put you in one of the best seats when the attraction starts.rdeacon wrote: Man soarin' is getting some great reviews... can't wait to ride it in Sept/Oct when I got to WDW.

Have fun!
Of course, you DO realize that:
A) It's insanely hot right now. It almost hit 100 yesterday.
and B) There's a hurricane coming in by this weekend that's going to make for some crappy weather.
Make sure to bring lots of water bottles with you, and buy those raincoats before you get here! If you play it right, rainy days can be the best day to go to the parks!

Also, do you know when the hurricane is coming in? Our flight arrives at MCO @ 11:35 p.m. on the Friday, the 8th. Wondering if our flight will be delayed, or even worse, cancelled

I think it's still too early to predict. Last I heard: "This weekend". I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. Even if it DOES hit Florida, it's going to be really, really weak (80mph). Unlike last year. We got nailed the day before leaving on a seven day Disney Cruise. It was cut to five day, and most the stopovers had to be moved because the islands were pounded so hard.
The good news is we're going on two next year, so that makes up for it a bit.
And your plan sounds perfect. You DON'T want to spend all day at the parks if you don't have to. It's brutally hot out, and most people can't make it through the entire day. Going late makes sure that, not only is it more comfortable out, the crowds are usually diminished because of the heat which leads to shorter lines.
Make sure to check out the schedule for which parks are busiest on what days, and ask someone at the ticket entrance what parks you might want to avoid on certain days. They know all the happenings (sometimes, anyway) and should be able to steer you away from the places with special events like cheerleading, celebrities, etc...
And, again, I wouldn't worry about the hurricane too much. At most it'll get you good and soaked for a couple of days. And like I said, those are usually the best days to go. We actually went BEFORE one of the hurricanes last year, and it was the emptiest we've ever seen MK before. Of course, seeing everything tied down with rope and rigging sort of sapped some of the fun out of it.

Soarin' - Music
I think the music is one of the best features of Soarin' Over California, at least in my opinion. My favorite is that loop that they play while you're loading and buckling up in your seats. Does anyone know if there's a CD out there that contains the great music from this ride, especially the loading loop I'm talking about?
I was at California Adventure just 2 days ago (exactly on Disneyland's 50th birthday), and surprisingly, the lines were minimal. I went on Soarin' twice consecutively, and each time the wait was only 15 minutes at the most. Everyone was probably over at Disneyland instead of California Adventure. For those who have yet to try Soarin', it's a MUST! It's not thrilling like Space Mountain, but it's a whole different kind of nice.

Re: Soarin' - Music
I find that it can go for a wider range of people. All the warnings before the ride are a bit intidimating. But my mom had the most fun on Soarin' and she is sensitive to alot of things. It doesnt jerk you around, your not on any tracks wizzing by. It provides a huge experience with minimal movement on the rides behalf, your mind does most of the movement, which I find interesting, and I loved it.agentbacardi wrote:t it's a whole different kind of nice.

Ah, but my mom is really afraid of heights, she totally freaked out on the Fantasyland sky-bucket when I was younger. So she saw the warnings and got worried. Turns out she had the best time on Soarin'...she just didnt look down.urbancadence wrote:Unless, of course, you're afraid of heights.
And as for me, I get very car sick when riding in a car, so I too was a little unsure before the ride, seeing the signs...and I had no problems what so ever. I love Soarin'.
So my point is, even for those who have fears of heights, or motion sickness...its still fun.
But Im sure they need all those warnings for legal issues.

Maybe they needed those warning messages because of the really stupid people. Y'know... the same stupid people who sue McDonald's for making them fat when nobody pointed a gun at their heads and forced them to eat there.
Imagine this: Mr. Stupid Person takes Soarin'. He has a fear of water. When the ride makes the SIMULATED, TOTALLY VIRTUAL flight over Redwood Creek, he totally flips out. He sues Disneyland for not putting a warning for hydrophobic people. Disneyland has no choice but to put YET another ridiculous warning for the ride. In the end, the ride has warnings for people with fear of heights, water, golf, oranges and pine trees.
I know I'm grossly exaggerating, but it just bugs me that such harmless rides built for entertainment and fun could be ruined by such people.

it's like that for EVERYTHING nowadays. The whole thing is now, if it's NOT on the wornings, people will try to do it (it being whatever they can). if they survive what happens, they will then sue the company who failed to provide that information to begin with. then the company is forced to put on yet ANOTHER warning, all because some idiot was stupid enough to try something and it backfired (sometimes literally) in their face.
stupid legal system at work again...
as for Soarin', I want to go on this so bad. I can't wait until I can get down to Fl and try it out...
