One thing for sure, if you get tired of the tent, it's not like you won't have lots of other options available to you.

Well, I don't plan on staying in a tent next time I go down. Our plan of action is the Pop Century resort. As far as camping is concerned, last time I went was when I was in Boy Scouts about 10 years ago. So, I'm a little out of touch, and probably wouldn't be able to survive without use of a TV or computer. And, I know for sure that I would miss coming here to the forums :D

Days 1 and 2 - Allstar Sports
Days 3-7 - Saratoga Springs with our friends and their 2 kids
Days 8 and 9 - AKL Concierge (AP Discount!)
Days 10-14 - Beach Club Villas (just my family of 4)

I know it sounds like a pain to pack and unpack, but we're actually really looking forward to staying at all these places - we haven't tried any of them before! :D
We have changed resorts during several of our trips, and Disney makes it easy by moving everything for you. We love savinag thos weekend points by staying somewhere else. Just be aware that you may be without a room the majority of the days that you move. If you are plannign a full day in the Parks that day, it is no biggie, but if you are anxious to get into your room, it can be a pain.

I will be curious to know what you think going from AKL to BCV, from really dark to really tropical. Please post a report when you get back.

We were at Pop Century two weeks ago. I like it so much better than the AllStars, and I can't figure out why, since both are budget resorts. They just did some things a little nicer at Pop than at the AllSTars, like overlapping the window curtains so the sun doesn't come in, and the bathroom is a little bigger and the decor is more attractive. I like the way they are doing the food court/gift shop areas better. And the location is much better for us, right by the Caribbean Beach, not almost all the way off Disney property. I would not hesitate to stay at Pop Century, but would think twice about AllStars, but that is just me.

Our next trip we are SSR.

My girlfriend and I are going in December and staying at Pop Century... that is, unless I can swing it to split our stay between there and the Poly. If Disney offers the "Free Dining Plan" package for the time we're checking in (12/11) then that will make it all the easier, because we wouldn't have to worry about food for at least some of the trip...

We're just back from our first stay at the Beach Club and it was amazing. We scored a terrific water view in a deluxe room. Stormalong Bay was totally cool and there are a ton of dining options - my family even attempted the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream!

Boardwalk Inn is not the only Deluxe property we hanven't tried -- but we've booke back at the Polynesian for our next trip to be on the monorail route. :D

IRT Rich:
ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!

I actually just read a thing that Fodor's rated it one of twenty of the best resorts in the world to stay at, citing excellent dining options, activities for kids, and decor as chief reasons. It's still my favorite place in the world to stay. :)

I'm glad someone started this topic because I need help. My brother is in from out of town and my wife and I want to take him to Disney along with my mom for three days. (Possibly using the park hopper deal) But I don't have a lot of cash, and we want to stay in a hotel.

What are the recommendations for a blue collar family going to Disney? My wife and I have season passes, but it's the black out dates so we're forced to pay. And it's only for the summer months my little brother is in town.

We have a rule that we don't take ANYONE to Disney during the blackout dates. If they want to go, more power to 'em, and we'll see them at dinner time. Once you get used to short lines in the winter when it's cool, I find it's impossible to wait in the heat and not get seriously annoyed. :)

Anyway, I still like the cheapy All Stars resorts, just because they're on Disney property and easy to get around. But you can find a ton of deals off property if you just look around. You might try a travel agent and see what they can find for you, but you should have no problem staying on a budget. Sorry I can't come up with anything off the top of my head!

You might also consider Fort Wilderness cabins. Not because they're cheaper, but because you'll save a ton on not eating out. When you factor in all that, and the fact that everyone gets their own bed (and room, if people want to sleep on the murphy bed in the living room), it's a fantastic deal.

For our next trip around, this November, we're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. I'm actually quite nervous about it, because I've never stayed or visited there, and I'm not sure what it will be like and if I will like it.

I miss my AKL =( One day, I will stay at all the resorts. And when I'm done staying at all of them, I will just stay at the AKL over and over again. But I think I'll really like the Poly. CBR was a great stay too, for a moderate. But I'm mostly interested in staying at the deluxe's.

Resort

I like the Contemporary resort. It's pretty funny that the oldest Disney World hotel is named the contemporary.

IRT Siriuslydead:
I'm a big fan of the Coronado for the mid-range resorts. Their food court is actually one of the best in Disney, in my opinion, and their pool is pretty nice, too. If you haven't stayed there, I'd definitely give that one a try if you're looking into mid-range. But I'm with you, AKL is flat-out the best one they have. Best restaurants, best decor, best service, and lots, and lots of stuff to do on grounds. You could stay there and never leave the hotel.

The Boardwalk is actually very nice, though I can't vouche for the rooms themselves. My only concern would be noise, but I don't think that'll be a problem. My only complaint about going there has been that most places are wildly expensive.

Hope you have fun!

I laugh about that every time I visit, too. I really, really think they need to rename it The Retro. :)

I've stayed at BWI before, and didn't have any problem with the noise. Granted, we weren't in a room directly above the boardwalk itself, but still, you couldn't hear any of the outside noise from anywhere I've been in the hotel.
