Has Anyone Stayed at Caribbean Beach?

Post by MW1218 » Jul Fri 24, 2009 7:31 am

My new wife and I are heading down to The World in early December for a holiday trip. We're staying for six nights at Caribbean Beach, and I was just wondering if anybody here has stayed there before, if you have, if there are any suggestions or recommendations you would make.

We stayed at CBR during the summer of 2005. We were put in the Trinidad South area. Trinidad South is the LEAST popular section, but we absolutely loved it. Our private pool there was bigger than the main pool, so we spent all of our time there. Our area was incredibly quiet, and it seemed to me that most of the villages were quiet.

CBR is great. It is really huge, too. Each area has its own pool, its own bus stop, and its own playground. You can see the fireworks every night from Illuminations at Epcot. The resort is beautifully decorated with trees, plants, and flowers.

The foodcourt is OK, and has a few unique items. But it was so far from our room that we only ate there once.

The theming is very nice, and the atmosphere is relaxed. But, it is a huge place. So big that they have an "internal" bus that just runs from village to village all day. Because it is so big, the buses can be very crowded at night. As long as you plan for that (or use your own transportation), you'll love the CBR.

I stayed at CB a few years ago. It was a just a quick trip, but I enjoyed it very much. Its a pretty big resort, so you may be doing a lot of walking if you can't catch the bus system. I would recommend staying there

Congrats to you and your new wife! A trip in early Dec. should be great, if you can, make sure you get to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!!!

To answer you question...I've stayed at CBR 3x's. It is a beautiful moderate resort. One of the cons is that it is so huge like others have said in their posts. My recommendation would be to request a room near the lobby and food court area. Otherwise you will be walking alot during your stay. It can be bothersome if you just wanted to get a drink from the food court area. Another thing I did not like about the resort, is that there are 7 bus stops! So, when traveling to the parks you will need to allow for extra time, unless of course you have your own transportation. The food court is nice. We enjoy the pizza there.

Overall, would I stay at CBR again, probably not. It's a beautifully themed resort, just a bit too large. Our fav. moderate is Port Orleans French Quarter, it's small and quant.

My wife and I stayed there for our honeymoon in 1999. We loved it. It was very peaceful at the resort. The only thing (which is very small) there seemed to be a ton of bus stops w/in the resort. Like I said...not a big deal at all. I would definitely stay there again.

Have fun!

We stayed in August of 2008 right before the new pool was completed. We really, really enjoyed our stay!

We requested Jamacia 45, it was a short walk to the bus stop. Then a short walk across the island to the main pool and food court. The resort is so lush and it was very quiet when we were there.

It was fun to swim in the quiet pool in Auruba during the fireworks. (Jamacias pool was just as close but for some reason a bit roudier with older kids, so we went the other way to Aruba and it was just a couple of little kids for DD to play with.)

We definately want to stay again. DD wants to check out the new pool and she loved laying on a hammock on the island and relaxing with Dh.

Yep- Jamaica 45 is a very good location for standard. Jamaica, and Aruba as well, are just a short walk over the bridge (And it's a beautiful walk, too!) to the food court and main pool.

If I was going to stay there again I would not hesitate to request either of those areas.

The grounds are beautiful; it's a huge resort, but really really nice.

Have a great trip!

Good choice. I've stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort exclusively since it opened. We have been pleased each time. Old Port Royale is a great hang out for kids and adults. As an adult my favorite thing to do is leave the parks around 9 (EPCOT closing) and head to the bar at the port and stay until it closes, relaxing under the stars. The rooms are typical, but nice. There are bus stops all around the resort to take you to the parks AND to take you to the other parts of the resort. I haven't tried the pirate rooms, and I don't care to. I always try to stay in an island section that is close walking distance to the pool at the Port, either next to it or across the Pirate Cay walkways (I think it is Pirate Cay, or Parrot Cay...or something). CBR is right near EPCOT, which is my favorite park. I head back to WDW to stay at the CBR in October, and then again in January. With over a dozen trips to the CBR sin 1989, I do enjoy it.

The new Pirate rooms are the furthest away from Port Royal and the main pool. We just stayed there in June and we are going back again for a second trip August 24th and staying at CBR again! We just love it there! My son loves the new pool too! You can see the fireworks from Epcot at the pool too!

CBR is a nice resort especially if you want to be close to DHS and EC. I would certainly suggest that you request to be in a building close to the food court because it can be a pretty long walk from the back of the resort, unless being away from all the activity is what you are looking for.

We have stayed at CBR and it gets an "ok" rating as far as the resorts we have been at. Rooms are adequate and the pools are good. Too many bus stops since the bus has to go around the whole resort and its pretty spread out. As far as the moderates go I would pick NOR over it.

I have stayed at CBR - believed we were in Aruba. I really loved it. We had a corner room which gave us two windows. I loved the themeing of it. I would definately stay there again, after trying all the other resorts first
