That makes me really nervous. I went to a computer security conference a few years ago and we had those in our badges. In one of the work shops the teacher went and stood in the hallway and scanned a badge. He then ran back to the front of the classroom, changed the information on the badge and then beamed it back to the badge. When he rescanned the badge it had the changed information. He did this in like 30 seconds. Pretty scary when you think of it. Of course he did one thing I appreciated. He changed the guys name to Mickey Mouse.

They don't get any personal info from the FastPass do they?aparadissis wrote:When you fastpass a ride, doesn't that give Disney the very similar info?
Without that, they'd only get very specific information about how anonymous customers use individual passes for individual attractions.
That's quite different from tracking your actions during your entire stay at WDW.
As a resort guest, you use your resort key/id card to obtain fast passes, so it's not anonymous at all. The actual fast passes themselves are probably anonymous, although it wouldn't be impossible to encode some identifying features into your printed fast pass. I'm not sure what they do with the fast passes once you use them, they're probably just discarded.Captain Schnemo wrote:They don't get any personal info from the FastPass do they?aparadissis wrote:When you fastpass a ride, doesn't that give Disney the very similar info?

Couldn't you just obtain passes the way non-resort-guests do? Or is there some benefit when you stay on-site?Brian845 wrote:As a resort guest, you use your resort key/id card to obtain fast passes, so it's not anonymous at all.
Anyway, it certainly looks like they're moving in that direction. When they finish the system, I wonder if they'll allow you to opt out.
I know most (if not all) times when people ask for your Social Security Number, you don't actually have to give it to them. You usually have to argue with the flunky taking the info first (meaning almost no one ever complains, I guess) and you'll be made uncomfortable at best, ruining the customer service experience, but if you ever find someone who knows wtf they are talking about, they'll say taking that info isn't required.
Given that cameras are going up at all the intersections around here without issue, I doubt anyone will make a fuss, however.
Well, in the few times we've been there since the Fast Pass system was implemented, we've always stayed on site. I assume non-resort guests have a paper ticket (with no identifying information) that they run through the machine to obtain FPs? For a resort guest, the key/id card is your ticket, so I don't know of another way to get a Fast Pass.Captain Schnemo wrote:Couldn't you just obtain passes the way non-resort-guests do? I'd like to think that being a resort guest increases your chances of getting special "All Day" or "All Stay" fast passes, but I don't know if it really works like that...They may be very egalitarian in how they hand those out.
