With the 50th celebration in effect, will there be a HMH overlay, and if so, how long is it usually up for?

Thanks !!

Yes. The haunted mansion will be closed from 9/6 to 9/29 to install the overlay. It will then be closed from 1/9 to 1/25 to remove the overlay.

I've never been to Disneyland during the Christmas season. Are the decorations the same every year?

I'm so disappointed that the HM will be closed while I'm there (9/8-9/11)... but at least I was able to do it last February when my girlfriend and I were there... at that time, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Tiki Room were all closed, and now they're open...

Ahh the trials of loving a year-round theme park.

The Christmas decorations are the same every year, but the park looks soo wonderful during the holiday season. I highly recommend going during this time. The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are the better time to go. Christmas week is too busy.

Glad to hear it'll be back. The Haunted Mansion is totally something else with all the Nightmare props. It's a different look and feel as well.

I went to Disneyland this past Saturday (10-01-05) and I was glad to see the Holiday Mansion. It opened up this past Friday. It looks great. I love how it looks at night with all the lights on. Looks wonderful. :D

I want to know what kind of bulbs they use for their candles. It looks quite real and not like those other flicker candle lights I've seen.

Actually the decoration are not quite the same each year. Two years ago Oogie Boogie had a larger presence than before (they even had a contest sheet to find all 13) and last year they seemed to have more of the Vampire Teddy Bear than before.

EAch year has a different "theme" to the nightmare before christmas overlay. Many of the decorations are still the same, but several things change. Soccermouse is correct about oogie boogie, as last year's theme was predominately centered around him. I forget what this year's theme is (which is sad, really, becasue I was just on the ride last week).

I would love it if they did this to the WDW Mansion.

Its not only up... but it also has more enhancements in it this year. I for one love the hardwood floor in the foyer. Makes a classy touch. Plus Im told thatll be there even after holiday leaves.
