Post by garyman » Nov Tue 11, 2014 7:13 pm

For those that have not heard, starting December 12th, 2014. There will be no more picnicking along the Rivers of America trying to hold a spot for the 1st Fantasmic showing. They are moving to a Fastpass system like World of Color is doing now. There will be dining packages, Free packages.

All the details are posted here on Mouse Planet.

I actually suggested they do this to one of the kind plaid-vested people when I was there in October. I guess I whispered in the right ear... that or many people felt the same way I did.

I actually like this move a lot. I know from when I was there during the holiday season 2012 it was really tough to get a place for Fantasmic while World of Color was nice and easy with the Fastpass system.

Wonder how similar the dining packages will be to those offered in WDW.

I think it will be a much easier thing to do. When people camp out with their blankets and such, it can sometimes be a pain to walk around them or maneuver through the park especially on a crowded day. The fastpass system worked well with World of Color so I'm sure it will be great with Fantasmic.

While I did not view Fantasmic during my December visit, with the fastpass system in place, it was MUCH MUCH easier to navigate through New Orleans Square and Frontierland in the late afternoon and early evening, where in the past, people were already setting up camp in front of the Rivers of America. And even before the show routing people (we were walking from Cafe Orleans to the hub) seemed a lot easier with a lack of people wanting to stop in the walkways to get a spot.
