Price increases yet again
Seems like they increase every year. Crazy that a Premium Annual pass has increased 240 dollars in 4 years.

As I said in the other thread, they can get away with increasing as long as the market demand stays high. I don't think they'll lose any attendance over this.

As an econ minor, I have to agree with you. The parks are all about supply and demand. The demand is still too high for a price increase to reflect negatively on attendance or total revenue.GeoffS wrote:As I said in the other thread, they can get away with increasing as long as the market demand stays high. Re: Price increases yet again
Is it my imagination or does it seem like the attendance levels are down more than say last year or in other past years? Space Mtn. always would have close to a two hour wait time on most days, and now during the busy summer season I don't see it much more than 90 minutes on peak days. I think Disney might be pricing themselves to the point of losing guests? Or maybe that is the point of raising the prices so high, only the rich can visit the parks with short wait times?
By the year 2020, I am willing to bet it will cost very close to $150(or more) for a one day one park ticket.

I think part of the changes in wait times can be attributed to people having a better plan and the use of fast passes in the parks. Add to that the fact that there are new attractions opened in the new Fantasyland, and all the various parks to spread people around in.Tigger Fan wrote:Is it my imagination or does it seem like the attendance levels are down more than say last year or in other past years? I don't think attendance is down, or if it is, not by much. We generally go during a "slow" time of year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the parks seemed much busier both years we went than they were in the further back years.
I do think ticket prices will continue to rise, but I think $150 might be a bit of a high projection for only 7 years out.

Wrong resort again, Amy...
At DLR, at least, I think the report noted attendance is still on the rise, but I don't expect us to be getting any of the new tech that Florida uses (magic bands and FP+) because the makeup of visitors is shorter and the functions of the bands are geared for people on an actual vacation.

Anyhow...I suppose I can't speak to attendance at DL as we haven't been there in at least 8 years. But I still don't think the ticket price will be up that high in only 7 years! And I doubt the Magic Band+ thingie will make it out to DL for a long time...if ever, for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Probably not, we still have people manning each turnstile (actually one to two extra per gate too for image verification) even though they are physically equipped to guests letting themselves in like WDW does. When you go, you will realize how silly it is that a person is paid to take your ticket from you, insert it in the guest facing opening, have it pop up behind them, and then give the ticket back to you.

It may not be $150, however I don't think it wouldn't be anything less than $140. I base this on a $3 to $4 dollar increase every year. And don't forget they have raised prices twice a year in some cases after new attractions are built.
Here is a link from the Orange county Register that is out of date but gives you an idea.

I just think that there is a cap at some point. I know there will still be people that will go at any price, but at a certain point, people are going to say, whoa, that is too much for one day at a theme park...even DisneyTigger Fan wrote:It may not be $150, however I don't think it wouldn't be anything less than $140. There is a cap but I don't think we are near it yet. DLR still has to close the gates during the busy times. Just for context, DLR is literally the only theme park in So Cal (possibly in the entire west) that offers no discounts to the general public while other parks (such as Universal, knott's, six flags, and Sea World) offer discounts ranging from single day admission coupons to "buy a day get the year free" offers. The last time DLR had any offer I think was admission to both parks back when DCA was new but failing to attract guests. The offer itself wasn't very good either, you would buy your single day ticket for one park and be given another one for the other park that had to be used on a different day, which also meant you would need to pay for parking when you decided to come back.

Re: Price increases yet again
I remember when we went to Universal Studios in California and were strongly encouraged to buy a two day ticket. We got there, saw everything there was to see in less than a full day and wondered why we would even bother coming back a second day. I imagine the park has probably added attractions and shows by now, but I still wouldn't think you would need more than a day to see it all.Wizzard419 wrote:There is a cap but I don't think we are near it yet. Wish we had gone when DCA was offering that promotion ~ we would have gladly paid parking for a free day in the park

Depending on what year you went, there actually may be less now in USH than when you went since they are demolishing stuff for the Harry Potter area.

Re: Price increases yet again
Cali Universal is getting a Harry Potter area as well? Yeah, that doesn't make me any more likely to go there. I just didn't get into the whole Harry Potter craze and while I wouldn't say no to a ride on the Harry Potter ride, it isn't enough of a draw to get me there.Wizzard419 wrote:Depending on what year you went, there actually may be less now in USH than when you went since they are demolishing stuff for the Harry Potter area.

Re: Price increases yet again
What may be a disappointment to people is that I think the USH version may only have forbidden journey ride since there isn't a ton of space and the other park re-dressed two existing rides to begin with.
