What Order do you Approach Disney Land?
Someone may have posted a similiar topic in the past, but I am curious as to what order people go on what rides and attractions at Disneyland. I like to go to Tomorrowland first and then I go to Adventureland etc.

Oops
I should have put the previous post in the Disney Land Section.

Well, before it gets moved, I'll answer...
I head straight for the Fantasyland dark rides. The lines get soooo long in the afternoon and I usually only want to do them once each (maybe again for Alice and Peter Pan), then I hit Matterhorn. No FP for Matterhorn so get on it early. Then, since the last three times I've been there, Space Mountain was closed, I'd head to Adventureland, grab an Indy fastpass, do Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Mansion... then grab a Splash Mountain FP (if the timing is right), jump on Winnie the Pooh (the girlfriend loves Tigger), then ride Indy and Splash... at that point, it's lunch time... after lunch is spent getting and using FPs for, say Big Thunder and Star Tours (if necessary) and doing other little things, and going back and hitting the big guys again...
I guess I could sum it up as 1) Fantasyland, 2) Matterhorn, 3) the west side of the park

I'm jaded since I go so much. We'll think of a cool attraction to go on, walk over there, see a 45 minute line and go on something else.
We don't have a "Plan". Actually, what I have noticed I used to go to Tomorrowland first, but it's been crappy for so many years, I usually head over to New Orleans first.

That's what we usually do, but then get sidetracked towards Adventureland.subsonic wrote:

My group is really passive aggressive. By the time we decide on something, precious time has been wasted. We'll end up doing something totally different from our original 'plan.'

It's not DisneyLAND, but at WDW it's always depended on the time of day. Park opening always equaled the long-line rides, flip flopping Fast Pass with line waiting. If you play your cards right, you can go on every ride you want within a few hours then go on second trips at your leisure. Evening trips, however, usually have us going back and forth between getting Fast Passes for the long lines, then going on the short ones, or possibly on the long stuff like Philharmagic. There's less of a plan, and more of a strategy involved depending on events, time of day, and things we want to go on most. We rarely wait for more than fifteen minutes on anything, though (A requirement of having children).
Does DL have Fast Pass, too?

I read somewhere in a Disney guide book many moons ago, that most people are right handed, so therefore they tend to go to the right hand side of the park first, and also in the right hand side of the turnstiles. So I naturally go the other way. Off Mainstreet I go to Adventureland and start my trip there, and work my way around the park and finish in Tomorrowland. And sometimes it works quite nicely to do it that way.
It has been so long since I have paid attention to the "Lands" that I had to stop and think for a minute, where is Space Mountain located???? ha ha ha Cause we usually go, lets go to POC, or SM, but in the old days we used to say lets go to all the E ticket rides first! I am going to DL in December with my son and boyfriend, so we shall see who rulz the route.......I am thinking that would be ME

last time we went down to WDW (back on '02), we went left to right (adventureland -> tomorrowland). by the time we got to tomorrowland, we couldn't go on half the rides (due to one person being kind of sick from the heat), so we missed out on SM. next time, we're going to try the opposite way to get the thrills of tomorrowland out early, then do the relaxing JC or POTC last. Also, we'll be staying on property (so we can rest a bit in the afternoon and also get the EMH).

I don't know how well what I read would work at WDW, what I read was the one for DL, but I guess it could be the same for both parks. I have not spent much time at WDW so I don't know the lay out that well. My heart and favorite park will always be DL, the original

If it is our first day of our vacation then we take a bit of time as we walk down main street and just "take it in". After that, 9 times out of 10 we go straight to Indiana Jones (wife's favorite attraction) and get a fastpass. After that, it is a bit random but we are usually over in frontierland and new orleans. If it is already hot outside we might go and do single rider on splash.
Personally, regardless of your belief on fastpasses, we really have had to change our normal routine since we can't go about picking up fastpasses for pirates and haunted mansion.
We probably spend 3 to 4 hours over in this area and then we mosey on over to buzz and get a fastpass (we don't have a routine yet for buzz since it just opened and we have only been down there once.)

Tomorrowland First
It's been quite a while since I've been to Disneyland (about 10 years/before Rocket Rods), but as I recall, we usually went to Tomorrowland first, then through Fantasyland, around behind Big Thunder, then New Orleans Square. Then we'd just wander aimlessly and hit the Main Street shops on the way out.

i start off now, because of the recent re-opening of space mountain, i start there because the line gets so long you can't get on it later in the day. so i start there, then i go on indy, and then i go on pirates, and then i go to splash mountain and get a fastpass because that's another long lined ride later in the day. then i go back and go on haunted mansion. then i just work my way to wherever after that. most of the time after that i go to frontierland and go on big thunder. then i go through, fantasyland and get on whatever rides i can there, normally pinnochio and snow white because they're so short and no lines. although the coolest fantasyland ride is mr. toads wild ride. then i move into toontown and go on roger rabbits car toon spin and walk around in there for a while. and then about that time i can go eat at red rocketts pizza port cuz it's just about to open. so i eat there and then when i'm done i go on star tours, innoventions, autopia and kind of finish up tomorrowland. and then i go to the disney gallery, which is the coolest place to go in the park (that and the main street cinema) and then i just kind of wander around and talk with cast members and stuff like that, i spend most of my time in main street and new orleans square up in the gallery.
Guide book
There is a great guide book called "The Un-offical Guide to Disneyland". It has a plan that will let you see as much as possible with as little time in line as possbile. They publish a new one every year. The best advice is to get there early. You can get on 5 or 6 popular rides in the first hour that might take up almost an hour each later in the day. Things also slow down after 10 pm when the park is open later.

most of these are great replies...i thought i was the only nut who devised a plan when i got to the park..I have to say most of you are way ahead of me in the game...You know how to take advantage of the Fast Pass...i stopped goin regularly when that kicked in. That was when i worked there...and then the magic was lost... But still, been wanting to go back...and i just might snatch one of these game plans
