Thanks faxprincess! In fact, I haven't been on the ride yet, but my family just booked our holiday to Disneyland in mid December! I am positively thrilled and am hoping the line will shrink a bit before then.

And agreed with the Peoplemover - hope it returns soon.

By the way, welcome to the site! :nemo:

Hi everyone, just got back from my trip and was able to ride the new Subs.
First off, I have to say that it's so exciting to see the Subs moving through the lagoon again. They were always one of my favorite rides and I was so sad to see them go, but watching them make their way through the lagoon again brings back great memories, and of course they look really cool. I'd highly suggest waiting until later in the day to go on, as we went an hour and a half before closing on Saturday (around 10:30pm) and the wait was only 30 minutes, which was relatively amazing.
In my opinion, they did a great job of melding the old and the new, as they kept a lot of the infrastructure of the ride unchanged, and you can still see the barnacles and starfish on the wall in the loading area and a lot of the same corals, etc. They even kept a few of the original fish and of course the Giant Clams  !
The new elements are pretty cool, and they added a couple of new scenes that work really well within the ride and make a fun trip. Overall, they did a great job combining the old and the new, and everyone should find something fun about the new Nemo subs.

this ride looks cool. I think it is similar to the ride in the seas at epcot. not 100% sure... no subs in orlando

Ahh, I finally went on this 3 weeks ago. I'm going to sum up my likes and dislikes
I give it a 7/10.

Pros:
- It's great to have a sub right back
- The new audio system and sounds are fantastic
- There's some fun stuff to look at and interesting story
- Some cute homages to the past Submarine Voyage

Cons:
- After being on Living Seas with Nemo I was disappointed by the placement of the animations. All the screens were in the back. The projections were not 'in' the water. It wasn't as seamless.
- Too much use of the projections not enough real 3D animatronics

Overall, I liked it and would ride it again.

I guess my overall impression was, not really worth the 1 hour wait. 30 minutes, yes.

+1 for the sub interior being exactly how I remember it from 25 years ago.

-1 for the loading CM being such a dork. Took away from the "show".

-1 for no cute mermaids swiming in the lagoon.

+1 for animation being really good to mediocre. Sometimes it blended well with physical scenery, sometimes it didn't.

= will ride again if line is really short.

i really loved the ride and was astonished at what they did to the ride. dont forget that they changed their really stinky deisel powered subs into clean electric ones and that they still have the old sea dragon incased in rock with a joke from the fishes. all in all it was a really great ride!

I enjoyed the ride the last couple of times I went on it. I'm one to keep my face pressed into the window the whole entire time. But I agree with Sub's pros and cons since mine are the same way. I never went on the original submarine ride so it was good that there's a new one for me to get a chance to go on.

If you are claustrophobic this ride is not for you. I thought it was just ok. It took forever to load and unload. We will probably ride it again next month when my family comes to visit but only because they've never been on it. I probably won't ride it again unless the line is less than 15 minutes long (has that ever happened? :D). My kids didn't even seem that thrilled with it. Maybe it's just me but I wasn't really "wowed" even with the special effects.

How long is the average wait time for the subs now? Is there a fastpass for it?

I'm going to Disneyland in 3 weeks (yay!) and am DETERMINED to ride the subs because a) I never rode any of the sub rides back when they were 20,000 Leagues (...at least, in my memory...my mom said as a baby I went on and was scared of the giant squid), and b) Nemo is awesome and I'm a marine biologist. lol :nemo:

The average wait time ranges from 55 minutes to about two hours depending on the time you go and no, there are no fastpasses for the ride yet.

I don't think it is even that long anymore, but the best times are as usual, during fireworks and parades. Even then sometimes just before the park closes too.

And there won't be. Disneyland is slowly eliminating Fastpass all together. If you notice all the newest rides Subs and TSM don't have Fastpass. Disneyland has learned that Fastpass doesn't work, and this makes me happy, as many know I have a thing about Fastpass (see fastpass thread).

The fastpass was wonderful for my fam's last visit. What is Disney citing for the reason?

Fastpass generally makes the Standby line longer and eliminates the spontaneity that Disney was once known for.

If you want to discuss Fastpass any further please do so in this thread:

Re: Finding Nemo Sub ride - the new one

Post by proudcanuck » Apr Thu 28, 2011 3:40 pm

I finally had a chance to go on the Nemo sub. I refused to wait in line for over an hour for this one, but a few weeks ago was lucky to find the line at 5 min near the end of the night. Both myself and my 9 tear old son thought it was pretty good. But, I don't think it is worth staying in line over 30 min.
