After hearing about the most recent death at a Disney theme park, (The 4 year old boy at Mission Space at Epcot) I decided to look online and see about people who have died at Disneyland. Check out this link:

Some of the information on that page is not exactly accurate. I think the Snopes.com Disneyland Deaths page is a better resource.

I remember hearing about someone standing up on the Matterhorn Bobsleds and getting killed. The strange thing is that I remember it happening a couple of weeks after my only visit to DLR in the Summer of 1971. (As an East Coaster, all of my subsequent visits have been to WDW.) I was nine years old then, but the memory of it being in the news right after our visit is so clear in my mind. I can't believe that it had actually happened seven years earlier. It sure is strange how our minds work.

I use Snopes.com for verifiying a lot of junk e-mails that seem to get forwarded to me from friends and associates, as well as other urban legends that pass my way, I use the site for some sort of verification purpose. It's like anything else you have to look at it and examine it for what it is worth, but for the most part I believe they are pretty reliable.

I understand this one girl was riding alone, but do parents not pay attention to their kids on these rides anyomre??? My mother would smack the crap out of us if we mis-behaved. I remember my brother was gonna stand up on something and I have no idea how she did it but from the buggy behind us she smacked his head and said you do it and I will smack you harder when we get off here!! I think it was the HM ride if my memory serves me correctly, but that was 30 some years ago I always felt she was watching us (there are 4 of us siblings) and that she would pop out like the Wicked Queen in the Castle and bust us even if she was not on the rides with us!! When we were smaller, we always sat to the inside of the rides away from the doors, that was were my parents sat so we didn't fall out!! As I did with my son. I kept the same fear in him so that I could trust him on rides when I was not along I also remember once that my seatbelt on the Matterhorn did not catch in the latch properly and they couldn't release the bobsled cause they had a red light, they came over and tugged on my belt an it popped out, they made sure it was secure before they could release the bobsled. Don't they still have that kind of thing? I see the panel board on Star Tours, it has red lights that show which guest is not fully fastened in. Where is the parential responsibiliy these days???

On a recent visit to WDW, while on line for Kali River Rapids, the line didn't move for at least 20 to 25 minutes. We asked a CM what had happened. She told us that some kids had removed their seat belts in the middle of the ride, and were standing up and running around in the raft. They had to shut the ride down to remove them. The CM said she was not sure if they had just been removed from the ride, or ejected from the park. In my opinion, they should have been ejected from the park. However, I don't know how they can keep them out, especially since they no longer use hand stamps.

Post their photo's at the turnstiles for all the world to see saying to not allow admittance to these hooliguns!! ha ha ha
