Re: Dateline Disneyland
I said "entertained".
Total staff used it low, but at the same time they only get paid like $10/hr (workers used to get about 3x more, and could actually do it as a career, until the unions were forced out of the parks in the 70's), my guess is the only real expensive part is paying out to all the people who get a cut.

Oh I see that Disney has made a point to announce today that the subs would be returning.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
If I recall, the last time they did a special announcement about an expensive ride closing was Rocket Rods, where it was under refurb, they made a note to say it was coming back then suddenly the signs vanished.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
slick that they closed it a day earlier because of a 'mechanical failure'... didnt give people time to organize a protest

Re: Dateline Disneyland
They learned that lesson with the last time they closed a ride, people may complain and may even try an online protest, but it will amount to nothing other than having someone detracting from you. So if you can go about it in a swift manner it usually keeps things quiet.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
I am kind of surprised they aren't renovating the entire French market area since they are doing massive work upstairs.
If that Nanooze thing were so old, I would swear it was a viral marketing campaign for one of the franchises like Cpt. America. Similar to how Slusho was used for Cloverfield.
I would suspect that the surface they are using for Carthay is just not durable enough for the parks. I wonder if they are going to be repaving Carsland too?

Oh, I wonder if this week will see greater police presence at Disneyland? The cops charged with beating an unarmed mentally handicapped man to death were just acquitted which is usually a reason people riot.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
Those New Orleans restrooms are going to be a mess with that construction keeping the traffic flow from going all the way through.
That is neat seeing some of the Fantasmic workings Glad we were able to see it while we were there. That would be cool to take the Riverboat at night, but it was cooler to be able to see Murphy!
BTMRR is looking good. I still wonder what happened to push the opening back so far Was it ever mentioned why?

The riverboat at night is significantly less interesting than it sounds because there is nothing to see outside of whatever the pilot elects to shine a light on.

Re: Dateline Disneyland
None of the riverside scenes have any lighting? That is sad But I suppose it is totally understandable as the riverboat rarely cruises at night.Wizzard419 wrote:The riverboat at night is significantly less interesting than it sounds because there is nothing to see outside of whatever the pilot elects to shine a light on.

Some of them do, but it is more ambient light so it just looks and sounds (since the same spiel is playing) exactly the same. A long time ago the boat used to be used for live entertainment, which justified it having night cruises.
