Bomb Scare at DLR

Post by Wizzard419 » Mar Sat 03, 2012 4:23 pm

Apparently the gates were locked down today over a suspicious object. Nothing dangerous, and the hours will be extended.

Hadn't heard about them extending hours, but Twitter was aglow this morning with this news...

I dont know the US laws but can it be possible that the person who hide the note or whatever must pay for the cost of the police operation?

They can, but it varies from case to case. For example, it's not unheard of to get a bill for a wilderness or hiking trail rescue. But only if you were at fault, such as if you intentionally went off the trail and got lost. The person who did it also called in the moment they realized it was their fault, so police might not press charges.

I'm glad it was all taken care of and that it wasn't anything serious. Disneyland has been extended to 1 am from what I read on my ABC 7 app.

Glad to see they are still taking security very seriously. That was thoughtful of them to extend the park hours and add additional shows as well.

Eh... I wouldn't say they were taking it that seriously to begin with. You can still bring a gun, knife, or anything else in as long as it's not in a backpack.

Well, I meant from an unattended package standpoint. I would still agree that the security check isn't that great since they don't check your pockets. But I don't really want to be frisked at the Happiest Place on Earth either

I'm sure it's someone's fantasy to have a princess karate chop their breats.

The only park I know that does metal detectors is Six Flags Magic Mountain.

I would have assumed Knott's did them too since there had been gang fights in the past on park property.

Needless to say, I was one of the lucky ones that day being inside the park when it closed.

We effectively had 5 hours of magic mornings from 8 am to 1 pm. Even then it was not that croweded until about 3 pm or so.

We walked on every ride including Peter Pan, Dumbo. Indian Jones, Splash Mountain and Star Tours.

At Splash we got to just sit in the log and go again.

There was no one to be found.

I am sure glad I did not here about it until 11 or so. When a CAST Member indicated the fun would be over soon.

That's pretty cool that you were one of the lucky ones inside. I was thinking that when I read that the guests that were inside were allowed to stay that I would love to have been one of them! Did they restrict you inside the park at all?

I would imagine they weren't allowed near the front gate. :D

We had no restrictions what so ever. We wandered at our hearts content from atraction to attraction, We never did go back towards the front gate so we don't know about anything there.

Just lots of fun and very few people for many hours.
