new California Adventure soundtrack CD?
Last year I picked up the old California Adventure soundtrack CD. Its been getting harder to find now. It is interesting that many of the tracks on the CD have already been retired from the park. Seeing how I am an east-coaster and only get there rarely, has anyone heard about any updated park CDs? Curious if they are going to do a new one for the park after the re-launch and maybe another for the World of Color show? Any rumors on this?

Like WDW, I think they're getting away from doing individual park's CDs and doing all-inclusive CD. The Official Parks CD at WDW has tracks from all four parks. I believe the last Official Parks CD for DLR had some tracks from DCA on it as well. My guess is that they did the DCA Park CD as a way to help promote when it first opened, and it surprises me that it would still be around as so much of that park has changed in the process. There's always a chance they could do another when they finish the DCA upgrades, but the probability of that happening are very slim.

I wonder how much longer they will do any sort of parks CD. I would wonder if they will jump on the itunes bandwagon and sell songs direct there?

They would rather make the money in the parks rather than selling them over the internet. They could have been doing that already. And to be honest, not everyone has iphones/ipod/itunes. That might be restricting the market too severely. Most importantly, the goal is to increase the theme park merchandising sales, not decrease it...

Good point. I bet they do some sales over the internet too though. I personally love finding a new parks CD ~ even if they are becoming generic to all the parks instead of park specific.mindflipper wrote:They would rather make the money in the parks rather than selling them over the internet. The other thing that some may have noticed, the music shop on Main St. has very little music and now sells more movies, games, and stuff.
In Japan the park CD sells better, but even then it's a heavy rehash of last year's model (like the US parks did)

I would love to have a new TDL/TDS CD. If anyone plans on heading that way and would let me give them some money for a CD, let me knowWizzard419 wrote:The other thing that some may have noticed, the music shop on Main St. has very little music and now sells more movies, games, and stuff.

It's a shame that they don't do individual park CDs...talk about a way to up merchandise sales. Personally, I really miss create your own CD kiosks where many of the not before released tracks were available.

Those were nice and I have a few of those make your own CDs in my collection. I was always sad that you could only put 10 tracks on them though ~ I know those CDs can hold a lot more than that! I think the make your option would be lost on a lot of today's park goers though ~ most everyone I know simply downloads music now instead of having a physical CD.MmeLeota wrote:It's a shame that they don't do individual park CDs...talk about a way to up merchandise sales. True. It's too bad they can't come up with a way for park goers to purchase music electronically that they can download right onto their phone/mp3 player. Perhaps even an emailed link to your purchased music...similar to how one can email the "your future" postcard to themselves at the end of SSE.Amy wrote:Those were nice and I have a few of those make your own CDs in my collection. And the parks in Japan like to out-do whatever is done by the parks in the US. When DLR had the six CD boxset for the 50th, TDL had a 12 CD boxset for their 25th...Wizzard419 wrote:The other thing that some may have noticed, the music shop on Main St. has very little music and now sells more movies, games, and stuff.

If you have a mitsuwa in your region or use one of those japanese import shops the markup is minimal (in some case the same price as retail).Amy wrote:I would love to have a new TDL/TDS CD. They aren't that popular in the US apparently. Take HMH for example, the CDs were on sale until only a few years ago but they hadn't actually made a new copy of it in over 5 years. They are just really tough sells.
I would not be surprised if the WDC is starting an audio version of digitial distro/rentals as I think they have already launched their movie version. The only caveat is that you won't get raw ride audio or area music since many rides use existing music and pay royalties.

Yeah, you did notice my post about the ginormous tractors that roll down the roads in our area right? No Japanese import shops I'm afraid But I can get some lovely Amish goods and fresh cheeseWizzard419 wrote:If you have a mitsuwa in your region or use one of those japanese import shops the markup is minimal (in some case the same price as retail).Amy wrote:I would love to have a new TDL/TDS CD.
