I had gotten a email from Micechat's newsletter and inside there was a link leading to an actual home movie of the legendary Hatbox Ghost from the Haunted Mansion. If only they brought him back now that they can update it with new special effects/technology.

They might since he's possibly the main storyline for the next HM movie by del Toro, as it's featured on the poster.
I know they built a non-fuctioning one for an auction, which was mistaken by many as "they are adding it to the mansion". If they did add it back they would probably have to re-theme the attic again since, I would imagine, one of the Constance's character's exes wouldn't want to stay with the broad that offed him.

That's pretty interesting! That had to have been one heck of a good video camera in the late 60's to have filmed those scenes in such low lighting levels at the HM

That was my thought when I first saw this clip...but I also wonder if technology of today could "clean up" and perhaps brighten up an old home movie clip.
Call me skeptical, but something just seems fishy about the video...

How dare you impune that digitized media could be modified.
Screw you guys, I'm going to band practice!

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. My skeptical receptors must be a little haywire

It could be legit...or somebody having faked it using the big figure of the Hatbox Ghost that Disney sold a few years back...

All I know is that there have been rumors of them trying to test out the Hatbox Ghost with new technology and it still didn't work out so well like before. Here's to hoping they'll find a way to get it to work. Also, there has been speculation that the thin hitchhiking ghost has the exact same skeleton face as the Hatbox Ghost so that might explain where one portion of the ghost is.

That was started by the one they auctioned off, the makers (for fun) did added some of the functionality to the figure (the one photographed below) and loaded it on youtube. Cue the storm of people thinking it was coming back...

Oh wow, that's incredible. I know I read something on Micechat that someone dressed up as the Hatbox Ghost down to the T for the Mickey Mouse Trick or Treat celebration one year and everyone went crazy over it.

Disney even used it one Halloween Season to promote it on the website, and the animated version was voiced by Corey Burton, who does the HMH Ghost Host.

I heard they're making a new movie. They should make it make it a spin-off of the pirates of the Caribbean films. That would blow peoples minds.
