AOL Disneyland Then and Now

Post by MadEye » May Sun 29, 2011 2:12 pm

Saw this on AOL and thought I'd post it

http://news.travel.aol.com/2011/03/01/d ... n-and-now/

Not that many photos but enough to pique my interest.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”
― Dr. Seuss

It's funny to see the flying saucers ride and to think at one time when WDW MK's Tomorrowland was once to become "Discoveryland" (and never happened), it would have had those same flying saucers shown in those photos...

I had more of a chance to actually read this article this time (instead of just skimming though the photos  ) and it is surprising how Tomorrowland looks nothing like the original. Or maybe it isn't surprising because that land is supposed to be changing and evolving as the future keeps changing...
Those flying saucers did look like they would have been fun. Aquatopia in Tokyo DisneySea is kind of like the water based version of it as the article suggests, and that attraction is a blast!

I still think the air-based one they show there would be fun...

They do look like they would have been fun, but everything I have read about them indicates that they were plagued with breakdowns...much like the ill-fated Rocket Rods

I rode the Rocket Rodz - I gotta admit, it was fun (fun, but short)...

I have to admit, I haven't been to DLR that much, but one of my few visits just happened to be at the right time to ride the now extinct Rocket Rodz. I have to admit, I was surprised when it was pulled that they didn't bring back the peoplemover. :?:

I think they had done so many modifications to the track it would have been a major project to bring back the peoplemover...

Ah, you fixed it in this post ~ your original said "mice" instead of space. I thought you were making some sort of reference to Mickey or something
