Re: Splash Mountain
I am guessing there were no changes, this was just the usual refurb they do every year or so.

I haven't heard about any changes. It's the usual referb to keep it refreshed and working properly but I haven't gone so I don't know.

Re: Splash Mountain
The rides where water touches the cars/tracks always have a longer refurb (I'm looking at you Matterhorn and Splash), it's like owning a boat.

Re: Splash Mountain
It makes sense that those refurbs would take longer. More wear and tear with different elements.Wizzard419 wrote:The rides where water touches the cars/tracks always have a longer refurb (I'm looking at you Matterhorn and Splash), it's like owning a boat.
Has anyone gone on Splash since it reopened?

Re: Splash Mountain
Disney does in fact keep the waters at cooler temperatures in the boat rides in order to minimize the erosive effect of the water.

I didn't realize that the water temperature had an effect on the boats ~ interesting!mindflipper wrote:Disney does in fact keep the waters at cooler temperatures in the boat rides in order to minimize the erosive effect of the water.

Re: Splash Mountain
But when they chloronate the water and allow it to sit out in the sun it becomes a moot point since it turns many things brittle.
Re: Splash Mountain
on the subject of the refurb. ya they do a refurb about every other year which can takes months at a time, to make routine adjustments and fixs like working on the animatronics and regular saftey checks where they test the ride to make sure it works at full capacity

Re: Splash Mountain
I'm glad it is open now. It was closed when I was there last Spring, and it was really unfortunate to see the mountain covered in scaffolding. There's nothing better than the smell of Splash Mountain!
