Characters no longer allowed to roam?

This really is a shame. One of my favorite pictures is my wife and daughter dressed as Snow White with the Evil Queen between them on Halloween. (We found the queen roaming around the park near the Snow White ride.) It's too bad to lose those moments for whatever reason.

It could have also been more about the staff safety rather than the guests since children will run at them even though they never give the requiste "Come at me, bro!".

I was thinking that too - besides a marketing ploy maybe this is a legal thing. If they confine the characters to one spot it is easier to provide security.
