If you're going for atmosphere, request a table on the water. Also, make sure you call and reserve well ahead of time, since it's a pretty popular place. As for picking dinner or lunch, I would go for a late lunch, since the menus have a lot of the same items, except lunch is way cheaper. Yeah, go for the experience! I've eaten there a couple of times and honestly, it's only all right, quality-wise. Do not try the Caribbean Crab Cakes. Well you can, but I don't think they were worth the price.

I agree about the atmosphere. Way cool!

The price isn't good for the quality though, but I agree with Mike Pinocchio that you should try and hit lunch since the menus are very close but just cheaper.

I also agree that you should stay away from the crab cakes. I enjoyed the pork loin while my wife enjoys the caesar salad.

I remember this place as a kid - that is how big of an impact the atmosphere was on me! Enjoy!

I have great memories of eating there and after ordering seeing mostly empty boats passing by, so I would go over and have a quick ride (post tickets). One of the times the waiter asked my parents if he should hold my dinner until I was off the ride.

I remember that and the red jello that was great.

The atmosphere is so cool there, the bayou outdoors with sounds of water, crickets and such, but none of the pests trying to bite you

Funny; I have a childhood memory of trying to decide which dessert I wanted, and ended up choosing the red jello. But it didn't look red in the dimmed lights.

You are all lucky... we never could get to That place because Disney was a spur of hte moment half the time.

I still consider you lucky that you can even go at the spur of the moment. For us it's a 6hr drive and we have to plan months ahead. We planned our August trip last month.

Man, I couldn't do that. Just one day say, lets take a 6hr drive to disneyland. I love it and all, but I like to know what I'm doing before hand.
By the way, which direction of 6hrs are you coming from.

Suggestion:

As soon as you get into the park send someone to the Blue Bayou to make a reservation. They may have to hang around there for a while (I'm not sure what time they start taking reservations). Go for the earliest slot available for lunch. Lunch is cheaper and the earlier you get in the better your chances of getting a table by the water.

Oh, one other thing: MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH

I have to agree with the Monte Cristo, but I know a few people that hate them. Don't wait till you get to the park, call 1-714-781-DINE

All this talk of Blue Bayou- whether it be good or bad- is making me want to eat there. I wanna hear those crickets and the flowing water! I think I'll get my family to make reservations when we go.
