I think I saw it mentioned somewhere, on MiceChat probably, that they would not be holding the event this year due to the construction, and there was no mention of it being held next year either. Sorry soccermouse, think you are out of luck this time around :(

Yeah, it was in the Dateline Disneyland update. I posted the full LA Times article in an earlier post. It says the F&W Fest is a no go for 2011 and 2012. We'll see what happens in the future. I liked the idea of a F&W Fest for the West coast. It's a MUCH smaller scale than Epcot, but fun anyway. We got hooked on a San Diego based beer thanks to the festival! :D

I bet the "local" (used loosely since some of them were from over 400 miles away) vendors are probably a little miffed too since it cuts off a means of selling their products.

While I have no facts to back me up, it would stand to reason that an annual event like this would simply be moved to another venue. Even if it was just at the Grand Californian on a smaller scale, I can see it being pulled off.

I think one of the reasons they only hold the events (the WDW and DLR version) in a park is that they help bring bodies/paid admissions into the park during the slow time of the year that they are held.

I too am disappointed it looks like it won't be held this year. I'll be at Disneyland at right about the right time. But I suppose the DCA refurbs are worth it.

No, they don't. It would be nice to see something like that but they don't have a large enough garden area. The only one I know of is the small one around Tomorrowland where they grow their own vegetables.

That would be a rather small gathering area in DL! You would have to have thimbles for the wine glasses and magnifying glasses to see the horsd'oeuvres!

There's a couple of flower planters in Fantasyland you could have a meet at Lol :-)

DL is actually pretty awesome even though it is small. There is something quite special about knowing that Walt had more of a hand in things at DL...that he walked all the streets and attractions checking details and tweaking this and that. Plus, DL is so much easier on your feet. You look at the map, sigh because what you want to go see is "all the way over there", take a few steps and realize...you are there already!!
We've never been there during the Food and Wine festival, but that would be something to see sometime :D
