2011 Food and Wine

Post by soccermouse » Nov Mon 08, 2010 2:25 pm

I am very disappointed that the Food and Wine Festival will not be held at DCA this year. However, the announcement seemed to leave it open to be held elsewhere. Has anyone heard such a rumor? Maybe at the hotels or something?

I haven't heard anything about it but I would imagine the reason they aren't holding it at DCA next year is because all the areas are being torn up for the rennovations.

That is the reason from what I recall reading, Wizzard. I read it on one of the Disney facebooks. They posted an article regarding the cancelation.

I just saw this article...

I'm not surprised. There's so much going on in DCA that it's any wonder how even park guests can get around.

I'm thankful that they do have some means of manuvering around the walls but there's so much going on that it looks like you're playing with Legos.

The one really bright spot with all the construction/electronica is that they didn't put up that candy corn village thing. I hate candy corn (it's just sweet, no flavor).

Was that in the Bountiful Valley farm area?

With the sunburst being taken down and the ElecTRONica stage being moved up forward, it would have very little space for the candy corn village to be around. I don't know if they'll bring it back after Buena Vista Street will be completed. It'd be out of place.

God I hope they set fire to the props from that, or sold them off to the surplus sites. I really hate candy corn and almost every application of fondent.

The music wasn't much of a help either (all pop music that had candy/sugar within the lyrics...but for some reason "Pour some sugar on me" was absent")

I didn't even pay attention to see if there was music playing or not.

Any answers to my original question? Do you think there is any chance of Food and Wine being held outside of DCA this year? (EPSOCT is not an option for me)>

There is always a chance, but odds are probably slim that they would do it that year since all of the areas used are going to be torn up/have been torn up. Your next best option would be to attend a local food festival I guess. Or buy a bunch of gourmet foods, wine, and stuff, put on light jazz, and charge yourself admission to your living room.

I don't think there will be unless they would have mentioned it in the article. As far as I know, they canceled it for this year.

   Don't forget to charge for individual food items! ;)

I'd have to agree with Wizzard though. I'm not sure that they would be able to host it anywhere else in the Resort right now. With so much construction going on and an alcohol ban in DL, I don't see it coming back for a couple of years anyway.
