The Rivers of America are filling up nicely. The water's a nice color for once! No more of that murky green. I hope they change it up a certain amount of years to avoid getting the green again unless they're going for that to hide the track.
From my understanding, the water is dyed green for track-concealment purposes. I believe this holds true for the Jungle Cruise as well.

Now that the Rivers of America refurb is done and has been filled, those updates you post here, elizabethswann, are going to feel weird without any pictures on the progress.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Tell me about it but the pictures are for the two parks in general so either way, there will be photos of something!

It was so cool to see the river bed all dry, but it is very nice to see it with water once again. I am sure they will be treating the water to conceal the tracks once more...

I found this on MiceChat ~ although the reviews of the river refurbishment have been mostly positive, one thing (or two things) seem to have been catching everyone's eye...

"The two new Mountain Lion figures are actually quite beautiful and fit nicely into their surroundings. The problem here is that they are 100% stationary statues that are unfortunately too close to the rivers edge. They shine like beacons of shellacked felines motionless in the scorching sun. Perhaps they'll be moved further back into the shade so as not to give away their artificiality."

...shine like beacons of shellacked felines  ...probably one of the most amusing reviews I have ever seen! :D

I was there yesterday but I didn't see the live ponies there. But all the new additions look amazing.

Now I wonder if WDW will receive an update like this. It really seems like they did a fantastic job with all the work. Also it really didn't take them that long to accomplish all the work that they did.

Also, that was very interesting to find out that Disney intentionally colors the water to hide the tracks.

Remember how there was something about finding a toaster in the Rivers at one point...I found this while sifting though information for something else...
The atmosphere is light and bright, considering the 6:30 a.m. start time. As day breaks, teams rehearse on dry land with imaginary paddles, a DJ plays apropos music ("Heigh-Ho" when the Land Ho! team begins) and two men costumed as a toaster and a sandwich root on a team called Toasted BLT (as in Bay Lake Tower, the new structure next to the Contemporary).
It's from an article here if you are interested... http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertai ... 4694.story
It also said the canoes weigh between 1000 - 1200 pounds! I wondered how they always managed to stay upright with all those unseasoned canoe-ers!
