No words can describe how good it was....
If you never caught this show back in the late 90's... you missed one of the best live productions Disneyland ever had... (except maybe the Lion King Parade... but that's for another thread).

I totally agree actually. I was working there when it opened. I was asked if I wanted to work on it but figured it was better to be in air-conditioned Star Tours then working Guest Control in the sun for Festival of Fools. Boy, that was a mistake. Not only was it one of the better shows that people of all ages could enjoy but there were also a lot of cast parties I could have went to! :)

Parties aside, it really was one of the better shows they had there. It's sad to think that more and more live actor shows are being replaces with video screens.

I loved that show! I wish we had a video of it. We saw the one in WDW, but it wasn't as good as FoF...

I agree Sub, it's really sad that the live actor shows seem to be going by the wayside. (I also really loved Animazement! I'm hoping to see Aladdin at least one more time before it closes...what a fabulous show that is too! I love Toy Story and all, but it's gonna be really hard to top Aladdin IMHO.)

Technology is cool, but I like good ol' talent, and there's plenty of it out there.

Anyone care to describe it for us DL deprived??? Was it just a Hunchback show?

It wasn't a traditional "play" or stageshow, NaCler. It was set up as a theatre-in-the-round where the audience was immersed in the show.

While I personally thought that the 1996 cast was better than those I saw in 1997 (no offense, but I adored the first Frollo they had!), here are clips on YouTube from the 1997 show so you can see how it worked: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMpoX3uERE4

Pure Disney magic!

casrin and I had a routine when we were there in '96. Go to the early morning in Disneyland to ride Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and whatever else we could. Then, we were back to the Disneyland Hotel for lunch. For dinner, it was Esmeralda's BBQ and we stayed the rest of the day at the Festival of Fools to shout "Go Frollo!" and cheer Frollo on.

I never had the chance to catch this show at DL but I did see it at WDW and I liked it. I too enjoy seeing the live action shows. I always thought Aladdin gave me a glimpse of what a Broadway show was like since I have never been to a real Broadway show. Same with the Lion King show, and Tarzan, and Beauty and the Beast...

If you liked the WDW show, you would have LOVED the DL show! With the unique theatre set up, the show was much more interactive. I really wish someone had a video of it.

That's the DL Festival of Fools. :D

I have it on VHS thanks to a Californian I'd befriended while on vacation. Ahh, such great memories!
