For everyone who loved Tiana's Showboat, it looks like you've got a new show! They're bringing the performance to land in the form of Tiana's Mardi Gras, starting this weekend.
Those of us going to Disney World soon are super jealous...why couldn't they keep the showboat??

Well, if this is in Disneyland, it could be because there will not be a riverboat until May while the Rivers of America is drained and refurbished. Perhaps once the Mark Twain is back in service, the show will be back on the river.
We didn't get to see it...I was hoping they would bring it back

The previews looked great! And I heard a lot of rave reviews about it!

What is Tiana's Showboat? We've seen the movie, and liked it, but I'm not aware of anything in particular at the parks having to do with the movie, other than a little bit of promotional stuff so far. Is there something already set up at one of the parks?

There was stuff posted about this but nothing very descriptive about the show. I also recall getting emails from Disney about it. It basically is a show that takes place on the Rivers of America using the Mark Twain. The show was called Tiana's Showboat Jubilee. I think it is pretty much just singing and dancing. It first ran on October 26, 2009 with practice shows being performed a week or two before hand. Check out Future Guy's Anniversary thread:
viewtopic.php?t=5830&highlight=tiana for some pictures of it before debuting.
Finally, you can check it out on youtube if you want to see the show without ever going down. I honestly have no idea if the show is still running in WDW.

One reason for pushing it aside is maybe Disney's PTB are getting ready to do some park promotional stuff for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, which opens in theatres the first week of March 2010.

Hmmmm.... I checked out Future Guy's trip report, and it indeed appears that the Tiana thing was only a test run. Since we were there several months after F.G. and didn't see anything at all about a show like that, my guess is that they scrapped it. I could be wrong, but like I said, we never saw or heard anything about it the whole time we were there in December. The only thing we saw about the movie anywhere in the parks was an advertising mural on the back side of a building in DHS. Can anyone else shed any light on this?

It did debut at the end of October. I believe it was a temporary promotional type thing to try and draw attention to the movie and tie it to the parks.

I think it has come and gone - quickly.

In DL I believe it ran for the duration of the Holiday season. I'm not sure if it will be back or not, but the theming is perfect!
I'm not sure if it ran throughout in WDW...

Tiana's Showboat Jubilee ran through the end of December (my family loved it!). It was also at Disney World. They both closed at the same time, much to the disappointment of those of us who didn't see the show.
Quick Summary:
Parade of cast through streets to Showboat (all decked out in Mardi Gras finery)
Song and dance routines (all the big songs from the movie including a villain scene)
Guests on Showboat participate
Boat travels down river and cast parades off through cheering crowd (or so I heard)
It sounded like a fabulous show to me! Almost like the real deal down in New Orleans. Hopefully it'll stay in Disneyland long enough for me to return!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhh......!!!! NOW I remember it!!!! I didn't actually see it because I was busy in the Shootin' Arcade when it happened, but thanks to your description I now remember that I heard it going on and my wife commenting on it. Thanks for the reminder!
Sheesh, I can't believe I didn't remember that until now!

I only saw positive comments about this show - I figured that it might return after the Rivers of America refurb in DL but it sounds like it is done...I didn't know WDW closed the show at the same time. I checked out the photos and videos, it looked like a nice show. It sounds like Len90 was right and it was just a tie-in promotional thing for the movie.

It was very cute. I was fortunate enough to see a full blown view of it when I was eating at the Cafe Orleans on the outside seating.

We just went to see Princess and the Frog yesterday. It was really cute! We both loved the music, so I can only imagine how great the show was!
I really hope they bring it back!

The show was definitely cute! It was also nice to be able to watch it on the river without having to be blocked by a whole parade. They also have the little store and Princess meet and greet!
