Maynard

Every so often when I'm reading an article about Disneyland, a Cast Member named Maynard is mentioned. Depending on the source, sometimes he is lauded with praise and adoration, and sometimes he is cursed as the bane of CM's everywhere.

I'd like to get your take on it. Ever seen this guy in action? Do you have any Maynard stories?

There should be more options in there for "He's okay" and "He's cool but can overbearing"

I voted I love him because he does make the a guests experience better.
I would have chosen "He's cool but can be overbearing" if it was there.

My only arguement is that he isn't "Part of the show" he "Is the show". But I don't mind. It's nice to see CM's making people's day brighter.

thanks for the info kgmadorin. Yeah, I've definetely seen him. I remember riding the Haunted Mansion and he was the cm in the elevator room. My friends and I were standing next to him while the lights wen out and he turned on a flashlight in front of us and made some weird noises with some finger puppets on. My friends got a kick out of it and I haven't seen him since. That was...4 years ago?

I like him. Weird though, I think I saw him working the turnstiles at 50 Magical Years just this past Thursday. I honestly didn't recognize him (he was so subdued!), but the nametag definitely said "Maynard".

And yeah, he definitely brightens up any trip on the Haunted Mansion.

Love Tomorrowland and Adventureland, but hard to decide to which one is best.

I have never seen him before. Does he typically work on weekends or weekdays?

I'm kinda sad that I haven't seen Maynard in person, but I've seen many pictures of him and would love to see him in "character" personally. Esp at the Haunted Mansion!

Heard about him. I think I recall a crazy guy like that after hearing what he does. Does he still work there?

This is the first I have ever heard of him. Of-course I haven't been to the park for any thing but a quick day trip 5 years ago. I don't know him, of him so there isn't much I can comment on. I wonder if he will be there if I do get to make my trip in December, we shall see 8)

I've ridden the Haunted Mansion and Jungle cruise a number of times with Maynard at the helm, and let me tell you - it was the most entertaining aspect of both rides! Maynard's awesome. It's wonderful to see someone who actually gets into character to help sell the attraction, rather than the brain-dead, So-Cal teens that monotonously schlep through the spiel (in nasal drone) "Ladies and Gentlemen, please step away from the walls into the dead center of the room..." - BOR-ING! Maynard wakes you up, out of your exhausted stupor from walking the park in the hot sun all day, to bring you back into the experience. If you ask me, I think he's great.

Maynard rules!

I was asking my more "disney-fanatical" friend about Maynard and he didn't know about him besides the site. Last week while waiting for the Parade of Dreams, I noticed a guest having a friendly conversation with a cast member. As the cast member walked by me, I read the name tag and it indeed said "Maynard." I think he was wearing a Tomorrowland uniform. That's the only time I've ever seen him, and knew it was him. It would be cool to get him as a skipper.
